Turret what?

OK, having read through space combat I find myself uncertain of exactly what a twin or triple turret does. Say I have a triple turret with a particle beam, a laser beam, and a dustcaster. Can I fire all of them in the same round of combat (forgive me if I'm using the wrong word here I am D&D imprinted : ).
In a round of space combat I fire my particle beam AND laser beam do I have to fire them at the same target or do I have to choose to fire one?

Can I, during the reaction portion of space combat, fire the dustcaster if I have fired the particle beam earlier in attack...

Thanks for clarity sorry for the bombardment when it comes to questions...
Thanks

The rules are not clear, and, from earier discussions about this, it is clear that different player/GMs use different interpretations.

For what it is worth, I rule that in the planned fire phase of the attack, all weapons in a turret may be fired at the same target, but not split. If a weapon is not used in that part of the round, it may be used for point defence as reaction fire.

You can fire all weapons in a turret each round. There is some debate if you could fire them at different targets, but I figure, given the actual length of time within a combat round that each weapon can be fired individually.

Also, you mention having a Particle Beam and a Sandcaster and a Laser in your triple turret.

One of the rules updates in High Guard is that a single Particle Beam weapon requires a Triple Turret. Thus if you have a PA weapon in your triple turret, you can't have any other weapons in that turret. The PA beam is the only weapon that falls into this category.

Hope that helps.

I wasn't going to mention that, as I guessed the OP hasn't yet moved onto the wonderful world of HG errata!

Not too many changes. You can download the errata for High Guard.

The Port turret should be a triple sized turret mounting the single TL15 Accurate High Yield Particle beam.

The starboard turret once held the Missile launchers but currently is 1Dton of empty space where the fire control should be and 1Dton of empty space where the missile store was.

This was mentioned when the adventure was first released but it was too late at that point to change the text.

Still its a good plot idea and a nice set of adventures. I hope you have fun with the three that are out so far and all the others that will soon be released (Hint Hint  ).

Actually, it was mentioned even before that but I guess it didn't get corrected...

For that matter, the rules for High Yield are different to that described for the Harrier.

Equally, just to make matters more confusing, it does say that a Particle Beam can only be fitted one per turret in a triple turret but it isn't clear if you can fit anything else on the turret or not.

I just say go with it as is if you've already handed it out...

Re multi-weapon turrets, you can fire every weapon in a turret only once per round, but I don't restrict what at - you have 6 minutes to lay the weapon on a new target, after all.

The key for multi-weapon turrets is point defence - a single gunner can potentially fire several times in point defence, but only if he has a double or triple turret because you still need several guns to do it with.
