Traveller Wishlists for 2015

Emperor Mongoose
As it says above: Here are mine (add yours too!):

1) Book 12 - Transhuman/Supplement 17 - Transhuman - A generic sourcebook for integrating Transhuman themes and concepts into your Traveller games.

2) Official Traveller App(s) to generate characters, worlds, ships, etc.

3) Official Traveller Wargames/miniatures.

4) Deluxe Traveller - Kickstarter campaign to get a core rules book that includes more comprehensive options (e.g. d66 tables for events and mishaps in chargen, more rules options from Books and Supplements) and an art/layout review (full colour? binding? box set? leather? big book/little book? etc).

6) A drive towards getting more OTU Alien books available.

7) More short, generic setting books - like Cowboys and Xenomorphs. There could be one done for WW2 pretty swiftly, and (old style) Pirates.

Traveller Perry Rhodan?

Traveller Jules Verne Stories (all of them!)

Traveller Atlantis

Traveller Stargate or better yet a game set around travelling to different worlds via an artefact trying to find the one that leads home ala Sliders?

Traveller Solar System where they explore the rest of the solar system using ideas for potential campaigns like Iapetus is actually an abandoned colony ship or humanity originated on Mars and fled the disaster that left it uninhabitable for the Earth as we now call it but back then it was something very different...

Traveller Dan Dare (almost forgot that one!)

Book 4: Psion, Second Edition. Author: me.
From personal communication and reading Cosmopolite, I have no doubt that you would do well. Just make sure to keep the BSG-style hybrids viable!

Also, if you get Psion, I call either Scout or Agent!

This is kind of all I want. I've done a single sub-sector by hand (rolled, then written up and rationalized), which is actually a useful exercise to learn the system and the world codes. But man, that first one takes a while! It'd be very nice to have it automated, preferably in a form that lets you go back in and edit things to make sense. Animal generation as well, for the times you need it it'd be nice not to have stop or have it done ahead of time.

Needless to say, we are watching this thread carefully - and some of you are already going to be getting your wishes :)

Alex: You better send me a proposal :)

A Call to Arms: High Guard or alternatively Victory in Space (rather than Victory at Sea - get it? ;))

I'll second the Transhuman sourcebook.

Traveller: Galactic Patrol (based on the Lensmen series)

Traveller: The chronicles of Dumarest.

Traveller 1889

Traveller: The Culture (may as well have a setting for the transhumance stuff)

Traveller Prime Directive (they sent a spacecraft to a comet faster than this)

ACTA: Traveller using a variation of the ACTA rules, and Striker III using the Battlefield Evolution rules as a basis would be very welcome, especially if they did mini's for them!

That's a truly awesome idea, are others suggestions for Traveller: The Culture or Traveller: Perry Rhodan. If we're thinking big, Traveller: Revelation Space Universe would also be wonderful.

Back to the 3rd Imperium, I want to see aliens books for Droyne (which will presumably come out soon), Hivers, Vegans, and Suerrat (a Traveller: Minor Human Races book might make sense)

Along with the production of a number of Alien (OTU) books, which are a must, I would also still like to see a centralised big core Third Imperium core setting book in hardback.

To a degree, the Spinward Marches acts as this currently, but it’s something that could be expanded on (maybe including all the Library Data from the lbb 9).… or maybe just do it for the capital region book which is yet to be published? Information on key Noble houses would be good too.

Regarding 2300AD, maybe a book detailing the core worlds (i.e. The Solar System and Tirane) followed by detailed looks at some Frontier Worlds (an actual full supplement based on single worlds).

I’m not sure what to do with Judge Dredd, as it seems to be mainly be about the skirmish game at the moment and the indication seems to be that the RPG supplements don’t sell that well in the US (ironically, I feel!).

In terms of new settings, I’m not so sure either. They seem to take an age to develop fully (when is Prime Directive ever coming out, for example?), and a lot of the ideas can be integrated into current settings anyway. The transhuman stuff for example, is already referenced in 2300AD at least, and I can imagine that somewhere in the Imperium there has been some sort of singularity and things like ego-casting or infomorph uploading are commonplace.

Its just a case of integrating ideas like transhumanism to me, in the same way that cyberspace and cyberpunk ideas have been gradually assimilated too. People argue about canon in these settings, but to me, long lived sci-fi settings should continually update and integrate new ideas. It gives them brio.

But, heck…….Traveller: Dune anyone?!?

To me, a much more potent idea is to keep releasing smaller specific genre books. There was some call for writers to expand upon the western setting presented in Cowboys and Xenomorphs. Why?! The formatted size is ideal for a quick one-shot campaign. Why not see similar sized modules for other settings - like WW2, or Pirates, modern warfare, or a Conan-style fantasy world or whatever? And, if you build on an alien theme in each maybe, you might make them thematically collectable in a similar way that Eden Studios did with their All Flesh Must Be Eaten zombie game. So, Spitfires and Xenomorphs could be next, yes!?

What do you mean exactly by a Transhuman book?

We have all the parts to have a very robust amount of PostHuman play already, so the question is a general setting book a'la the GURPS books both TranshumanSpace and the tech books fluff bits or something else?

3) Official Traveller Wargames/miniatures.

Especially some 15mm Hivers, K'kree, newts and Virushi.

These would Fantastic....

Oh and I forgot a couple

Starships, Cleaned up and unified rules with a little more thought into the alternate drive options.

A cleaned up Tech Book with few guns and weapons and more illustrations of equipment. Maybe some optional rules for variant campaigns. Weirdly I like the special supplement format, with it maybe tools for a specific environment might be doable...

I have thought similar things previously. After all, in a typical Traveller universe we already have uplifted animals, AIs, cyberspace and other aspects that seem ‘transhuman-ish’ (anagathics allow characters to live for incredibly long lives, for example).

However, the notion of uploading one’s entire personality, while not entirely new (Red Dwarf, anyone?), is an emphasis that isn’t really fully explored as of yet in the game. Beyond that, the sheer variety of post human character types explored in other games (Eclipse Phase, Transhuman Space, etc) is enough to warrant a sourcebook of their own, along with essays upon the implications of societies formed around such communities.

Imagine having a life path generated for someone having been a space octopus one moment, followed by a battle robot, followed by being a discorporate infomorph, then a starship, then in a bioshell….and so on. Having a system that allows players to shift their core sentience between wildly differing modes of life is the essence of the Transhuman concept, I think.

You can upload in the Twilight Sector Traveller setting from Terra/Sol Games.

Put a Psion Integration Chamber in that starhip...
