[Traveller] Scientific Research and Emergency Rescue

Did anybody play Ringworld?

On the Runequest forum I started a thread about running a game set on a ringworld, but have been having difficulty figuring out what to have the PCs do.

I played Ringworld many, many, many years ago. I don't recall what the adventures involved, other than us crashing on the Ringworld.

Very interesting. Years ago I ran a medical rescue based game using the D6 rules, set in the "Sector General" universe from the late James White. (About a giant space hospital and rescue service). It can be a lot of fun, as it has more puzzle solving than anything else, but some players can be frustrated by the lack of combat....

Sshhhh! The frustrated game designer in me would like to write an SFRPG based on this. :) Do you know about this page on James White and his work?

Finally, have you seen the Pax Galacticum supplement for Battlestations? Battlestations is a tabletop RPG crossed with miniatures game in which the central action is based on boarding actions. The supplement gives this focus an emergency rescue twist. Recommended!

Several folks on rpg.net seem to have a copy. If you don't feel like joining and asking directly over there, a Google site search might yield some answers. In the search field, enter (without the "scare quotes" and keep the space between the site address and ringworld):

"site:forum.rpg.net ringworld"
