Transporting the fleet(s)...

Apologies if this is a re-hash of an existing topic...

Could I get some suggestions on the best way to keep and transport my ACTA minis?

THanks in advance!

I use Army Transport modular foam trays in a soft case. The trays are customisable so that you can precisely sculpt the niche for each ship you have. It helps is you do not glue the bases to the models. (I would sugest a jewelry clasp to simply attach and detach the bases as needed.) Overall, the option is a bit pricey but the security is worth every penny.

I favor the army transport. I leave the base attached and cut several identically sized bricks, and then cut them in half to make "clamshells" for each ship. you can put as many as 3 small ships in one brick (white star, chronos, tethys) a couple medium ones (hyperion, olympus, atremis) or one big one (nova, omega, apollo, avenger)

I've had to cut bigger ones lengthwise for a Warlock, which fits nicely beside an extra wide one for a future Poseidon I'm still working on...

the benefit is you can pick and choose what bricks to add for the most part. It works well for my EA ships, but I'll admit some oddly shaped ships my have problems. Its not the most space-efficient, but they're very well protected.

the modular foam inserts are now available in the UK from wargames workshop, dont know about various other retailers.
but they are the best for spaceship transport, its why i didnt mind spending the money importing from the states.

I don't attach my minis to their bases and just stick them in a medium GW carry case. The ony figs I have that don't fit are the Viccies, and they get stuck into a box (I think it's actually a fleet box) with a LOT of foam inserts.

Well you can get the army transporters from www.thewarstore.com or you can get the battle beehive from www.scifigenre.com both are great.
