Tourney in Aldershot

Greg Smith said:
Ship limits are to keep the duration of the games down. They also require the use of larger ships, so no 5 point raid games with 30 twofers.

You only need a few Gaim fleets to turn up to render that point rather moot....... ;)

Duration should never be an issue - simply set a time limit on each game.

Dave

Chaps here are the Tourney rules and amendments
I've tried to take on board something sensible from everyone but also to make it an event.

The Games Store in Aldershot (as far as I know and can predict) is ok with Sunday the 29th November. The entry fee is £3.

I need to check on availability of boards and terrain but if people can bring terrain and 6ft by 4ft black cloths we should be ok.

Swiss system in pairing players, but the first round is "random" pairings. Hope to ensure people who've played each other before will not play twice. If possible first round will not see "friends" play each other, but this depends on numbers.

Starting from 12:00 prompt as it takes time to get things ready.

Game 1 – 5pt Skirmish ISD upto 2232 The Dilgar War 12:30 - 14:00

15 min Break - for food/drink/gloating etc... Please don’t leave the shop

Game 2 – 5pt Raid ISD 2232 -2258 Earth Minbari War & the Babylon Project 14:15 - 16:00

Game 3 – 5pt Battle 2258+ The Shadow War 16:30 - 19:00

Home time 19:15 (latest)

Clarifications;

You do not need to use the same fleet nor race for each game. In fact you could use three different Race/Fleet selections.

To clarify people do not need to use the same race for each game! All you need to ensure is that the ISD of the ships used fit within the date range.

Beam rule to be used
1-2 miss
3-4 one hit
5-6 on hit and roll again

Powers & Principalities rules, pretty much nothing is broken now except hunting packs which Matt has declared removed from P&P. Hunting pack rule is not to be used.

The ship limit is 8 for all games, except Drazi and Drakh which is 10 including huge hangar contents.
I will try to give folks a 15minute warning before “Time” is called. Please do try to have an even number of turns with your opponent.

Scenarios will be given out on the day.

Well thats that then. Please check back again closer to the day to ensure all is well. Thanks in advance if you can confirm now that you'll be there.

Cheers to the other Kettering guys for mentioning this tonight - count me in as confirmed.

I've got a GW GT the previous weekend and a works bash the next so moving the weekend would give me problems, but if it goes ahead on the 29th I'm there.

Have you tried emailing the boys from Walsall - I don't think they check the forum much and they might want revenge on Greg's crew at a neutral venue!!!

Barring moving house or my baby being born two months early I'll be there! (take that as confirmation for now as I won't be able to give any notice if my girlfriend goes into labour early!!!)

Excellent, a chance to use my Drazi without screwing myself over for the battle level game!

I'll be there, if it needs confirming again.

Congrats Trggy :)

Geezers,

Haven't been on the forums for a while - A load of the Walsall guys have gone back to playing Fantasy Nonsense! It disgusts me! CTA just doesn't get much of a look in nowadays!

Myself, Funbeast, Centauri Admiral & Starlynx (when he gets his S*!T together) are giving Flames of War a go. Tanks, tanks and more tanks!

Will double check my diary (ie with my missus!) but am reasonable confident I will be able to make the 29th! Someone has to represent the Warlords! Starlynx may be able to make it subject to work...... I'll check with the other guys this week and get them to let TGT know. Funbeast will probably be a difinite no cus he is a girly woss!

Can I clarify the ISD limitations? Game 3 ISD is "2258+"... does this mean I could take anything whose ISD is 2258 or later? Ie. a Liati which has ISD of 2265?

And how about game 2, 2232-2258, could I take any ship which has an ISD anywhere in that range? ie. could I take a Veshatan (1989-2236) or an Omega (2250+)?

Sorry what I should have written was: (and intended with the suggestion but Neil may wish to amend)

Game 1 - ships with an ISD upto and including 2232 The Dilgar War

Game 2 - Ships with a ISD that includes all or part of the period 2233 -2258 Earth Minbari War and the Babylon Project.

Game 3 - 2258+ The Shadow War

so to answer the specific questions:

Game 3 - I would say yes for ease - unless Neil wants to restrict it to say 2261?

Game 2 both ships would be available for the game

does that make any sense?
