Torpedo "Resilience" questions for Mongoose

How exactly does the Resilience feature in Darrian torpedoes work? It's not armor so..

1) does the Resilience feature ignore the first point defense hit regardless of the hit's rolled damage
or
2) does any point defense damage roll other than 1 destroy the torp
or
3) something else?

Also, if the torp is successfully hit by a point defense To Hit roll but not destroyed because of the Resilience, does this block the gunner who successfully hit the torp from making any other point defense rolls?

Resilient (Double Upgrade): The first hit on a Resilient weapon is
ignored. This only applies in capital ship combat if all the weapons
of that type in that section are resilient.

In my view this means that any first hit on a Darrian torpedo is ignored,
no matter what kind of weapon scored the hit or how much damage it
would have caused.
As for how it works, I would tend to attribute it to stealth and / or elec-
tronic countermeasures which confuse the targeting system and cause
it to actually miss the torpedo because it is not where the targeting sys-
tem assumes. However, the targeting system falls for this trick only on-
ce.

And limiting the addition of an effective ECM package only to torps because of the casing size (vs. that of missiles) and TL16-based miniaturization of other components makes sense.
