Today's question; Jump rating as a Speed?

Ah. Very true. A very rare example of possible TL 9-10 limit on the local star faring industry and a poor jump terrain linking trade opportunities but you are right

:?: :?: :?: No, it is an EXTREMELY common practice in a place like the Marches sector. J1, TL 12 Free Traders are as thick as flies there.

And where does it say J1 traders regularly waste their cargo space for J2 jumps? Somehow the I believe independent traders and local companies upgrade to far traders and not waste time and cargo including in the Marches. The reason a TL 12 ship would even have a J1 is cost. It plans to ply the mains and have a large cargo capacity otherwise a TL 12 trader ship has a J2 and expands trade where Free Traders can't go as efficiently. That's why they make Far Traders.

Now back to the topic.

What ARE you talking about? How do you THINK that J1 ships change to other J1 Mains????? Where does it state in the rules that crew members visit the head usually at least once a day?

And, this is part of the topic.

While it does happen often in the big picture, a given ship is probably not going to do so very often. What washes out in the macro sense can still hurt the individual captain.

That said, the behavior of OTU ships is only germane to an ATU drives discussion for identifying how that behavior would change. In this case, it will depend on whether a Wump Drive can stay in Wump space for more than a week, or if it has a 2300AD-like discharge requirement or similar. If none of those limitations are present, then fuel is the only limit on allowing a J1 ship to bridge larger gaps, just like it is in the OTU.

Friends don't let adventurers buy J1 ships.
