Time to put an end to Video Game company speculation.

So "The Kerakhistan Race of Death" goes another season? Will there be a cup race? Team points?

Bit more high tech than that (though we were using those models as proxy in the initial playtests :)).

Is there an Uncle Matt's Catalog in the works too then ?

Uncle Matt. . .

I like that!

It's funny. I just dusted off Car Wars about 10 days ago for some younger nieces and nephews. Had a little trouble grasping the turning and all the little things.

I guess the Midville Mongoose Militia isn't far behind.

Trust me, SGJ is a very small company. OTher than Chez, and Munchkins, all the game mentioned were from the 70s and 80s. MP is larger.

Ogre Minis and INWO were 90's reworkings of 70's games, but had significantly different followings than the original. And it's notable that the originals are still in print. But I'm not trying to debate whether SJG are some sort of gaming powerhouse or anything like that. I just wouldn't call them a "small" company.

Uncle Matt, all i want for Christmas is Battlefield Evolution. I've been really good all year and bought loads Mongoose stuff and everything. So please, please, please send Ted to take care of the lawyers and let us know if it's going to be a good christmas/ 2008.

Oh, it is going to be a good 2008, one way or another. I just cannot say why!!!

Um, not so sure we should trust you; your intimation that SJG made Nuclear War (actually published by Flying Buffalo) didn't earn you many trust points on that score  . I know I bought plenty of new SJG product in the 90's, and used to eagerly await their new releases. They've been sucked into "all Munchkin, all the time" these days, unfortunately. Follow the money, I guess :( .

Did you use the 5th edition stuff? I could never get over how slow the original game was, but the newer version is actually playable in an hour. (We've played a few lunch-time games at work.) No vehicle construction rules, but I don't think it should be too hard to kitbash those, especially if you have the old rules to work from.

Very cool that Mongoose is looking into doing a similar game, btw. Good luck, though; Testors tried recently, and that effort didn't last very long...

Oh and also - CAR WARS EVOLUTION.

Actually, we have something sort of/kind of along these lines coming out next year as it is. . .

Wow, that was just a random suggestion I made but I never thought it could sort of turn out to be true. Might we be able to incorporate these vehicular combat rules into BFEVO?

I can confirm that SJG is a small company.
Steeve Jacksons said it himself a number of times in plenty of articles, interviews, when they approached William Gibson to write a forword for Gurps Cyberpunk he declined on the grounds that they were to small, etc, etc.
Its easyt to forget how small the industry is, and how much impact a small company can have in the market (Especially one as great as SJG :D)
I'd probably say about the same size as Mongoose to be honest, and in no way a company you'd describe as FAR bigger than Mongoose.

Rather than further hijack this thread on the subject of Car Wars: Evolution, I made a new one under "What Should Mongoose Publish Next?":

I'm taking bets! Guess the day from those remaining in 2007! Taking all bets!

I know, I know! I'll bet that the day will be this Friday. If the announcement comes on or before this Friday (11/30, or 30/11 across the pond), I'll buy those extra Shadows I've been eyeing at my FLGS  .

Yep, I mixed the products up with SJG and FB. Since I have both companies products. But, both companies are small. SJG has made some great products in the 70s and 80s, but in those days most of the industry was done out of a garage!! It was a small world.

You should have seen how small RalPartha was when it first started!! I was there from the start thru the haydays! I think at the peak it had, 6 workers. It was in a very old small warehouse, with a cool room that was the gaming area for the members and friends. I painted many of those miniatures for that company. Use to get my minis at cost. You just had to buy the lead from Partha, and they would spin the minis for me. Came out about 5 to 20 cents a figure.

Howdy all.

I've been itching to play BFE ever since I discovered it at GAMA Trade Show this past year. Shortly after I purchased the advanced rulebook however, the product support ran out.
Browsing the forums to find any news, I, as alot of you, have become interested in what lies in store for BFE.
Just couldn't resist taking a guess!

Sony is the mystery company.

Again....a guess.

It fits the clues; a company much, much larger than Mongoose, land far far away (next to Narnia possibly), makes products that you would probably have in your home...
So what would Sony want with MGP?

Anyone ever hear of 'Eye of Judgement' for PS3?

What about a miniatures game that you could play with people all over the world? You could buy your units, and each unit would come with a card that could be read by a usb camera. When you're ready to play, pick the point value of the battle, select from the units you have available
(and seeing as how it looks as if it's going to be multi-genre, you could have modern soldiers, fighting ancients, fighting Mobile Infantry, ad nauseum), and play with each unit represented on a digitally rendered battlefield.

When you're done with that game, you can pack up the actual miniatures and go play with your normal gaming buddies.

Of course I could be waaay of base..... 8)

Anywho, I'll keep my self content by reading battle reports here, and on evocommand until my army is ready to field.
And an opponent presents itself.

*Cheers!*
