This is my first posting and english is not my native tongue.
I'm a long time lurker and this forum have been a huge inspiration for my games recently, so I thought I'd chimed in on this topic (and others maybe.)
I have the same binding problem here. After a casual look through of the book and even before the first session of my new Conan campaign, about 20 pages have fallen off the book. After the session, about a third of the pages have fallen off. I bought my copy in a shop in Paris (France) 2 weeks after the release, so I guess it must belong to that batch of flawed copies mentioned elsewhere on the forum.
I'm seriously considering ripping all pages, punching them and putting them in a binder.

Apart from the binding problems, does anyone else have slightly funky printing? My first copy completely came apart upon reading (I think about 50 pages have fallen out of the book), but I emailed Mongoose and quickly got a new copy. This one seems to be holding up better, although I'm not yet sure how strong it is (haven't flicked through it that much). However, some of the pages (maybe 1 in 10) of my second copy seem to have the printed page a little bit "shifted" so that the page number at the bottom is very close to the paper border, and there is a white (unprinted) border at the top of the page. It's not a very serious defect, but it does look a little bit unprofessional. Does anyone else's book look like this?

We are aware of this one, and it is actually related to the loose leaf problem (though one does not necessarily mean you will automatically have the other). Once again, this has now been completely resolved, and we will happily replace such books.

I don't have any other problem with the book besides the binding (and the book is great by the way, I really like this 2nd edition.)

That is very cool! I'm actually OK with my copy with slightly shifted printing; it doesn't bother me that much (the binding problem with pages falling out is definitely a much bigger problem), although I'm very glad to hear that the issue has been corrected. My main concern right now is actually for future books; both the Players Guide and Return to the Road of Kings will be hardbacks and I really, really hope they will be well-bound.msprange said:
Actually, I don't mind the greyscale, what got me was within three days of opening the book, 90% of the Aquilonean section of the Races started to come undone.
And frankly the 'slave girl' art on the border is highly unappealing. Not very cheesecake. >.>

Sounds like Conan is falling by the wayside? Not having a color book and hearing the cost increase if there was one indicates low distribution problems. Disappointing but these things happen.
Hopefully, Mongoose will focus on gettting the rest of the major nation sourcebooks published before they throw in the towel?

I think the bigger problem may be that they have done the sourcebooks for the best known nations and maybe the lesser known ones won't sell as well. I'd be more interested in seeing campaign style adventure hardcovers than more nation sourcebooks personally.
I sort of agree with you, although I would really, really like to see a Black Kingdom sourcebook and a Turan/Hyrkania sourcebook because both those regions absolutely reek with cool and potential. Beyond that, though, I'd also be happy with campaigns and adventures.spawn said:

Those of us that like/love/admire the game will buy the material because it is well-researched (hopefully) and presented with a bit more polish than the average RPG garbage out there (and I've seen stuff in HC and PDF that stinks like a skunk-and-limberger sandwich! :lol: The "lesser-known" areas are still full of gaming potential and as long as it stirs the imaginations of the players, I'd buy it. I can't think of a single dull area of Conan's world.
As far as B&W versus color books go....
I have two distinct preferences for RPG books:
1. My OD&D books are very rules lite pamphlets with B&W line art.
2. Conan 1E is a solid hardback with slick pages and color art.
I like either extreme but not much in the middle, so a B&W hardback isn't really my style at all. If a book is going to be a hardback it should come with all of the "bells and whistles" and really jump out at me visually. It should be solid and the pages should stay where they are supposed to be. If a hardback can't do these things I would rather go to the other extreme and have a product which has few illustrations and is just a rulebook.
I bought all of the color Conan sourcebooks and passed on the B&W ones. While I love 1E Conan, 2E doesn't sound like my kind of book.
