Time for the panic buying to start

Hi,
with all these nice shops only being available for a limited time now I thought I treat my self to a new fleet.

At the moment I play EA or Centauri so I'd like to try a different style of play.

I was thinking along the lines of Drakh, Dilgar or Gaim.

As I will only get one shot at this I'd like to try and get the fleet right so any advice or suggestions would be great.

Dude, you're wasting time asking for advise.... everyone else is panic placing orders already !!!!!


I know I and the other guys in my club have!!!

I'd probably go either drakh or gaim; depending on which models you like the look of the most. If you buy a drakh fleet, then you will definetly want to buy at least 1 additional carrier, 1 cruiser, and possibly a mothership as you don't get any of these in the fleet box unless I'm mistaken.

The gaim on the other hand I don't know what you get. I'm not over struck on the dilgar models, but I do like their style of play, if I was going to play dilgar I'd make my own.

My mate is right though, you are losing time, so I'd act fast if I were you.
 
Hmmm....perhaps it's all a cunning scheme to boost figure sales with panic buys of fleets; on April 1 they will tell us it was just an aprils fool joke

Since they are making minis til 31. March i guess you can still order and hope to get what you ordered...
But i ordered yesterday already since i was paniced as well ^^.
 
I've not ordered with Mongoose, as I'm sure retail stores that still have a stock of ACTA will discount their stock even further.

Just need to see about getting a good deal on a Dilgar fleet.
 
Drakh - the Gaim are not an exciting fleet ot play unless you like pushing hundreds of counters around (and perhaps not haiving opponents ! :shock: )and the Dilgar play simialr to the Centauri in some ways............... :)

I have to admit the Drakh are the top runner as they are a bit different. No fighters and GEG should be interesting.

Well, I've placed a £200 order to give me large(ish) fleets in every race except the Dilgar, Raiders and Gaim. This'll give me enough to assemble and paint for a year, still keeping up my "new fleet every event" reputation :)
 
I'm gonna pick up Gaim and Drakh...

Both fleets look very "un-Babylon 5" so would work very well in other sci-fi games.

Also I want to try out the groovy Drakh colour scheme and I am planning a really rich gold colour for the Gaim.

Those were my first two ;-). Only problem is I can't afford to pick up decent sized fleets of all the others so I settled on Centauri as my third and probably final one. Kinda wanted to get Vorlons & Shadows eventually, but oh well. Maybe on eBay someday if folks are still playing it down the line.

Oh, and I was planning on an actual tiger pattern for my Drakh, e.g. orange w/black stripes and a white underbelly :-).

The Gaim are a gorgeous fleet of minis but currently theyre the most broken thing since the they booked a rodeo in the same hall as the 1997 Internation China shop convention ;)

Mongoose have actually banned them from the latest tourney but they are now apparently being revised so hopefully all will be well soon, which would be nice as I do aodre the models and would love to play them if they were actually fun to play/play against :D
 
Is that a good thing? If they're going to be fixed/revised, then I personally would've at least liked a War level ship for the Gaim. As it is now, at that level and above the Gaim aren't as broken as people claim. It's at the standard 5pt Raid where they are a bit too good.

We've taken ideas from several people (playtesters and otherwise) and will be trying them out to try and get them right :)
