Thirdspace...very cool so far but why are the pics so dark?!

This has always bugged me about the B5 line, the pics from the show are too damned dark in the books.

They're grainy and fuzzy too, are we just taking a picture of the tv set?

The pics on pg 37 and 39 are so dark, that its almost impossible to see what the picture is all about.

Is there no color correction or some sort of QC process that happens to make sure they don't go out the door like this?

I don't mean to gripe, but these are expensive books for only a 100 pages.

The means through which we have access to the stills renders them rather dark. I did my best with lightening them but unfortunately the printing process has a rather bad habit of undoing all of my good work.

Part of the problem might be that JMS used dark lighting on the set to hide a multitude of evils (like cheap sets) and as a way to save money.

If the original is dark, there is not much Charlie or anyone else can do about it. Go back and watch one of the episodes, most scenes are actually pretty dark.

I know this probably won't help very much, but if read the book under a strong light source you can make out the details in the pictures much better. Hope that doesn't sound condescending.
