Thinking of starting Call to Arms as the EA. Advice needed.

Although unless they've decreased the fighter load on those ships in 2nd Edition you'll probably have to buy more fighters. Some Tethys as initiative sinks since they're twofers and maybe Hermes as initiative sinks you can actually use in battle might be worth looking into as well.

Does anybody have any good tactical advice that I should take into concideration bar making sure I line up good boresight shots with my Omega and Hyperion?

You should more plan to line up a boresight regularly - don't try and get your opponents best ship every turn. Take what you can instead. Assuming that the play style of ships have not changed significantly in 2e. Try and get in amongst the enemy as you tend to have good hulls, plenty of available weapon arcs and interceptors, remember you some of the best rear mounted weaponry so speed past his line and engage from behind if your opponent is lacking in that arc. You have good fighters too.

Like Celisasu says, I'd consider grabbing a blister of Hermes and Tethys (if available for Third Age). These will give you a couple of useful Patrol Level options for small games and an Oracle scout for the tactical options it allows you to use. Other then that, bag a Warlock as a high end flagship just to finish off your fleet.

You might consider a Poseidon super carrier, too. It's costly to buy along with enough fighters to fill its bays, but it's certainly the biggest carrier in the game. You can easily swampt the board with Starfuries using a single Poseidon, and get fleet carrier bonus as well.

The Posseidon is hard as nails now. Also its a fantastic model :D

Tethys I seem to recall were made early years only werent they? Not too sure there as I still dont have my book (my LGS should have it tommorow though so all will be well :D)

Yeah, then a few Hermes for initiative sinks in the Third Age. You won't be forced to have a boresite ship move first that way.

They still have missles and a flight of starfuries right?
