So I bought Samurai yesterday and was hoping for word on SGB?

I have had a quick look through the book, but what does stand out so far is the quality and depth of the research done. I'm not that interested in real world settings but there is so much culture and information presented that I'd like to port it in to my homebrew world.
I really like the Chapter on Religion, very interesting reading about the different concepts.
Next want to tackle the Magic Chapter!

There's a wealth of material out there for the period, plus many very good game treatments too. But I'm a history fan, and Japanese history in particular. The Heian period is very different to the traditional Samurai setting, and the politics of the era: Taira and Minamoto; warring Buddhist Sects, make for a wonderful backdrop. That's cool. When I was working on the conversion one of the big things that stood out for me was just that. I was absolutely fascinated at the level of depth the writer went to for the book.
Yep, it would be. MRQII magic differs so much from MRQ1 magic that its essential to fully revise this section.I had to do a few tweaks here and there system wise to bring it into line with Legend and magic was one of those things I tweaked a tad here and there.
Me too.Glad you're enjoying it.
