The Spider God's Bride

I have had a quick look through the book, but what does stand out so far is the quality and depth of the research done. I'm not that interested in real world settings but there is so much culture and information presented that I'd like to port it in to my homebrew world.

I really like the Chapter on Religion, very interesting reading about the different concepts.

Next want to tackle the Magic Chapter!

That's cool. When I was working on the conversion one of the big things that stood out for me was just that. I was absolutely fascinated at the level of depth the writer went to for the book. I had to do a few tweaks here and there system wise to bring it into line with Legend and magic was one of those things I tweaked a tad here and there.

Glad you're enjoying it.

There's a wealth of material out there for the period, plus many very good game treatments too. But I'm a history fan, and Japanese history in particular. The Heian period is very different to the traditional Samurai setting, and the politics of the era: Taira and Minamoto; warring Buddhist Sects, make for a wonderful backdrop.

Yep, it would be. MRQII magic differs so much from MRQ1 magic that its essential to fully revise this section.

A blatant RQ6 plug here: the Mysticism rules are amply suited to Buddhist schools - far more than the way I originally handled Buddhist magic.

Glad you're enjoying it.
Me too.

The Mysticism rules are one of the best things in RQ6 - there's nothing quite like them in any previous edition of the game, but they "feel" right.

Well, we now have the proof back, but there are still some issues. We will be working on this in the first week of January. More updates once we fully see what we are dealing with.

It's finally out!

Excellent! Now you can let go of the trauma and begin to move on with your lives. C'mon, let the tears out. It's all over. *pats your collective back*

I have it and I'm reading it right now. I blogged about it briefly, but to restate what I posted so far:

This isn't exactly a surprise to me as I was familiar with Xoth a long time ago when it was a D20 resource for Hyboria but seriously...Morten Braten has outdone himself.

Look, I don't really like other published fantasy settings for the most part, and among those I do its more to pillage the interesting bits and try to make them my own. I really don't like most published adventures, and have used only a handful of the horrid things in my lifetime, almost always with regret as I find most published modules lacking, or too rail-roady, or whatever.

None of the above applies to Morten's Xoth and the Spider God's Bride. This is a book, a setting, and a string of modules that I would run as-is, no questions asked. It's the flavor, the genre, the style and the feel that I want in my fantasy.

TL;DR: Get this book! It's seriously good stuff if you're into swords and sorcery.

It's the book we've all been waiting for - the perfect set of adventures to show off the unique strength of the game system over "generic high fantasy" RPGs.

I am hoping to use some or all of it for my next arc in my runequest 6 campaign (bless comparability) - i struggle to prep properly with work , family, Steam...

I just bought this and read through it. I REALLY like it. A very different feel from most fantasy adventures and settings.

It has inspired me to go back and take a HARD look at my fantasy setting. I am seriously thinking of making ALL magic Blood Magic...
