The Serpent campaign kickstarter live

Endie

Emperor Mongoose
Another Traveller kickstarter launched, today: The Serpent. It's written by Kevin Hassall and is being being published under the Traveller Compatible 3rd party license: hopefully we see more of these.

  • A dramatic coup upfolds at a corrupt despot's court.
  • Warlords rally supporters and hunt down dissenters.
  • An ancient biotech facility holds the secret to victory, or destruction.
  • Two intertwined campaign arcs lead to a single dramatic conclusion, where the system's factions collide to battle for control of an ancient secret.
  • Classic sci-fi dramas mix with unique story arcs, in a rich, evocative setting, inspired by classic Persian literature.

I quite fancy the unusual cultural choice of basing the campaign in Persian and Arabic history, literature and culture: that'll give my players a change from the normal and make it seem more exotic (so sue me, Edward Said). I am hoping to find a way to work it into one of my Traveller Campaigns in a less documented subsector that suits the planets involved (somewhere in the Coreward Trojan Reach, maybe, or in the Beyond.

P.S. I have nothing to do with this beyond having backed it myself and wanting to see it produced, and I'm quite happy for this post to get deleted if the author posts a more polished thread, himself.

Edit: for instance with a link to the kickstarter (see next post).

Backed - looks really well thought out. I also play Coriolis so it's two for one.
Not completely two for one ;-)

The Kickstarter is very much Traveller Compatible, under license from Mongoose.

Now, I will publish conversion notes to make it easy for Coriolis GMs to adapt it (Caph system, here we come...), but the main book itself is Traveller. (If anyone wants to convert it to SWN or somesuch then I'm afraifd that they're on their own - it would be possible, but I don't know the system well enough to help with that.)

So maybe 1.5 for 1? ;-)

Thank you for your support, though - it's great that the campaign had such a great initial response, and we're really looking forward to getting it into layout :-)

Haha, no problem. Your previous publications have been great, so I'm looking forward to this one. :)
