The Indestructable Parry

The Parry in RQ seems reasonable system, weapons add a few AP to the location, great for those pesky trollkin. But against the beast of beasts with a 3d8 damage score, is pap. Bring on the shield for those much needed extra APs.

However I have noted that if the item is indestructable it has infinate AP/HP.
So the question, should this not be different. An indestructable breast plate means there can be no damge taken from a hit to hte chest. Parrying with an indestructable weapon is better than a dodge.

So here is what i reckon, Indestructable items have double the APs of the normal item but infinite Hit points.

ie, indestructable war sword
War sword, 1H Sword, 1D8, 9/7, 2, 8/10

Indestructable Chain Shirt
Chainmail shirt, 10, 4, Abdomen, Arms, Chest, –20%(-40%?)

So should they some how make/find (i admit a gm giving them this should be strung up) an indestuctable suit or armour, with the exception of a siege engine attack (this ignores AP) they can pretty much waste anything.
With a wepon, my weedy can parry an ogre's huge axe, seems silly to me.

Not really.

If you have an indestructible shield, it has 12 APs, say, and blocks 12 points of damage. It just won't take damage itself. So, if a troll hits you and does 30 HP damage, you shield blocks 12, your armour 8 and 10 points gets through. So, you break in two, but your shield stays nicely undamaged.

Indestructible armour is the same. It just isn't damaged by acid, fire, big clubs or whatever. It doesn't block an infinite amount of damage, it might only have 6 APs, but it won't break and can't be damaged.

As for making one, normally you can't. These are magical items and should have a magical source. Maybe someone has the secret of making Indestructible Shields, perhaps a Legendary Ability or an Enchantment. Maybe you have to go on a HeroQuest. Maybe you can find them being stamped out in the Clanking City. Who knows? Maybe you find one on an adventure.

I can think of far worse things to give out than an unbreakable shield.

I see what your saying, leave the AP as it stands, they just can't be broke (as indestructable tends to mean). Thought you menat infinate APs, so can't be hurt...

That's more or less my thoughts.

This comes about as I am playing a Hero of Fantasy Sesh and a character has an indestructable sword, he therfore can parry anything, I say it should only defend the APs (x2) as a normal wepon, it just can't get damaged.

There is an "Indestructable Shield" spell in CoG1 known as Great Parry. But its one of those old Gloranthan chestnuts. Not readily available but it does make your shield have an infinite number of AP for 15 min. 8)

Of course, you've got to worship Babeester Gor to use it but what's some emasculation among friends?
