Just finished it! Most fun I've had reading a book in ages - well done, Richard Ford! It's great to be back in Magnamund and visit places both old and new (with a couple of neat cameos). Can't wait for part 2. Gonna read Glory & Greed now...

I'm eager to read this book too, but I would like ask something: when can we expect The Shadow & the Skull? Not another full year please! The Dragons has been originally announced for a release in October of 2007 and it finally took a year for it to be officially release, so I wish we won't have to wait for that long to see the sequel.

I'm still reading but very much enjoying the book so far. It feels very true to it's lone wolf roots with travel and many far off places as well as some cool characters and organizations. Richard Ford is not afraid to kill people off either and I think he writes in an engaging manner.

I have to admit to being somewhat less than enthusiastic about the novels when I heard of the new lone wolf releases but now I have started reading, they may well be my favorite aspect of the lone wolf resurrection.

Hope it isn't too long before we see the next book, I would rather not wait a year but as long as we get it sometime...

Even though in a different post I said I didn't have time to read either novel right now, I spent a little time each night before going to bed reading Dragons of Lencia and very much enjoy it.

It does a great job answering several "future" questions:
* Who takes the throne after Ulnar?
* Who takes the thrown after Sarnac?
* How can Bor powder be contained so it doesn't spill out all over Magnamund and destoy the medieval nature of Magnamund?
* What happened to Nyras after LW destroyed the Nyras Septre?

All in all, a very rewarding read so far.

Finished reading it - an excellent book! I thoroughly enjoyed it, not least because it had a few unexpected deaths in it. And even when you knew someone was going to die, the way they died was unexpected.

I thought the 2nd act of a trilogy was meant to be the darkest? Not sure how much darker it could be!

As I say, a good book and I can't wait for the next one.

As for Glory & Greed, I am reading it now - it's a bit harder to get into as I don't know much about the Telchoi, but a comment I do have is next time, please can we have English spelling and not American? I hate seeign "favorite" as opposed to "favourite".

I know what you mean. I found it quite jarring when a character in 'The Key To The Future' (mini adventure in 'The Kingdoms Of Terror') referred to maths as 'math'. Unforgivable!

There's a few minor typo's too (such as an "and this world in which we live in sentence with a to both before and after another word with no third thing comparing somewhere in the early chapters of Glory and Greed). Good stories well told (but with lots of american spelling and some odd gramatical and typological errors).

Finished the book and very much enjoyed it. The final battle scenes and siege were fantastic would love to do the battles in miniature. Mmm GW plastic chaos warriors would do we for Drakkarim and there are plenty of historical minis that would work well for Lencian forces.

Very nice work Mr Ford can't wait to read the next one.

As for Ulnar beating Vashna, I suppose he was wielding the Sword of the Sun - so perhaps Kai was with him?

As I say, I think he got the Kai right but the magicans were all a little too powerful for my tastes - Vonotar aside as that is the whole point of Vonotar after all.

My only concern with the current novels is the development of firearms. With the progress shown on land & sea with cannon, rate of progress should see the dwarves developing repeating rifles in about 40-50yrs which are accurate up to 300yrds.
