The Air Phase

How do you shoot down aircraft with a .50 AAMG since they are all D6 and target numbers on German aircraft are 7+ when moving faster than loiter? Surely they are not impossible to hit?

Which, of course, begs the second question - how do we mix the new rules for US planes in S&P with the old rules in the book for German planes?

On to the third question - If a vehicle is Lumbering how can it react to aircraft? I thought vehicles like the Flakpanzer and the quad 50 were designed to combat air threats? The example in the book shows a flak gun (which we cannot find in the book on any list anywhere) reacting to a plane.

We just played our 3rd game with aircraft and in each and every one of them, my P-47 won the game all on it's own, just ripping the German army a new one. The updates in S&P helped by making it harder to keep the P=47 on the table (By making it move faster) but my God, man... It just erases everything in it's path!

I hope we're just doing something wrong, surely the Air Phase isn't that unbalanced?

I brought this up a little while ago and the characteristics have now changed (see latest downloads) Instead of flying speed adjusting the Target score, it is now a Dodge save instead:
Loiter - 6+; 12-24" Move
Cruise - 5+; 24-48" Move
Burn - 4+; 48-72" Move

As for AA not being able to react, I guess this is a game balance issue although it does not make sense that my quad 20mm in Sdkfz7 cannot react, but if I deploy the AA off the vehicle it can. It does seem off though that an AA gun has to wait until the plane passes and drops it bombs before it can shoot, maybe this was not spotted when writing the rules? Even more confusing, is that the photo example allows the AA to react fire.
