The Accurate Torpedo

Just going to put this out there :) Another 'surprise' of a torpedo...

A torpedo with advanced smart electronic guidance and maneuverability.

TL13
5D
Thrust 10
33000 Credits
Traits: +1 to hit, -2 vs Electronic Warfare, 2 AP with more accurate targeting, suffers a DM-2 on attack rolls for ships smaller than 100tons

Currently the killer of torpedoes is PD. They do not really need a increased to hit chance or AP. They need increased survivability against PD.

There was an amouring option in the Jan release that got taken out - it can be put back in.

But I like this as:
Being a surprise for the player with the sub 2000 riders with bays
An option for sniping (with the opportunity for EW to counter act the advantage given)

I'm sure there are other brands of torpedoes out there than just what's listed in the book. The Imperium is a big place.

If we want torpedos more armoured, we just increase the PD effect they need. I'm not I favour of that weird other "save" or "armour" system. It can't be super cumbersome. Could also make them immune to ew or so as they're basically self-guided/intelligent what not

To be honest, I've always been in favor of this for bigger battles. It's fun at a small ship/individual role playing stage, but for the bigger stuff we should be looking to simplify where we can to streamline play. More rolls, more complications = more opportunity for people to make mistakes interpreting the rules as well. People don't need to be going chasing 1 line rule definitions tucked away in any another book somewhere.

Players that want to play big board space battles need to first agree on which books to use and which rules to use from them before starting a game. But if players enjoy reading through multiple books (editions) and taking their sweet time with their turn, there is nothing to fix (in their minds).
