Thanks for the SST Evo cards

Mongoose
Hi Mongoose

Thanks for letting us have copies of the SST EVo cards at MH07 yesterday. We don't need to wait for prepaints to play SST Evo, just let us have the cards and rules.

Get them online asap, and you'll keep us playing.

Even the hardback advanced rulebook will be fine without models.

Aircraft. Could you let us have them unpainted/unassembled, and switch to prepaints once your production issues are resolved?

They let them out! Which ones were given? This is the most exciting(for better or worse) news I've heard since the original PP announcement.

Can't wait to see them. I'm surprised someone hasn't posted them up here on the forums at least...unless there was a silly non-disclosure agreement :P

No non-disclosure. I'm expecting them to go online soon. No scanner, so I can't do them.

MI
Grizzly Exosuit Squad
LA Squad
Cougar Exosuit Lieutenant
CHAS Unit
Power Suit Squad
WASP Squad
Javelin Trooper
Military Intelligence Agent
Lieutenant
LA Fed Net Reporter

Skinnies
Soldiers
Raiders
Venerables
Speeder
General and Elite Guard
Cabal
Venerable Marauder
Guard
Warchief and Retinue
Heavy Speeder

Bugs
Warrior Bug Swarm
Tanker Bug
Plasma Bug
Rippler Bug Swarm
Brain Bug
Firefry Swarm
Tiger Warrior Bug Swarm
Hopper Bug Swarm
King Tanker Bug
Guard Bug Swarm

Interesting...

Noticibly lacking are:
MI Cougar Squad
MI Marauders...
MI Flying Stuff...
Bug Blisters(only noticible as I just finished doing some conversions :()
Bug Blasters(only noticible as I just finished doing some conversions :()
Bug Specialty things like manti, infiltrator, control
Bug Cliff mites
Forth Anything...

Certainly a good start, and if that LT is an LAMI LT, then you pretty much have the movie models covered, except the flying stuff...

I've got a scanner at work. If Mongoose haven't got them online by Monday, I'll scan them, and add them to Poi's Place.

That's such good news! Thanks Poi, that would be great. I think these cards would revitalize SST at my FLGS. I can't wait.

Hmm I missed some rthen as I don't have nearly as many as Poi got.

LBH

There were 2 A3 sheets per faction.
I was meant to play today, but my opponent is 'ill'.

Theres a few skinnie things missing too, there are also some annoying changes. I can see why they have been changed though, skinnies were way too powerful in the previous edition.
I also picked up a fleet landing party set, 10 miniatures (5 poses) in metal for £15, nice minis. Only a few were casted up though. I guess Russel found them amongst the crud!
I think MGP should still releases what they had scheduled, I remember seeing the Skinnie Brutes sculpts, they were wonderful. Currently we have cabal, but nothing to fight alongside them (though in evo, there is no restriction yet).
Why hold back a great game with something I am starting to believe 'might' happen.
Put the new rulebook out, don't rush them. Make sure they are compressed for at least 24 hours before release so that the covers do not warp! I found this had happened with ACTAv2 at the open day.
And only tell us what is coming out the next month, make sure it is ready at least 4 months before this! I know you guys are like us lot, but it's not starting to look so good now with all the holding back. When we are told something is coming out, we expect it to!
So I suggest:

- Don't stop bringing out and supporting the current game.
- Make these releases usable in Evo.
- Bring out the Adv. Rulebook for SST-Evo.
- Keep telling us things in S&P, even little things. We do not need to see pics of things we will have to wait 8 months for.
- Put the cards onto the internet, we got the first wave in S&P and you made us wait for the rest (we still dont have them). Just put them into the SST free downloads section.
- Mainly, don't tell us anything until you have been working on it for a long time and it is actually finished and stored for general release in the offices. I hear you can have the Factories make them when you want... What if they come out wrong?
-Still run Tournaments! Even with old miniatures, it's a great game.

Then when SST-Evo does come out:
- Make sure the book has been out before the miniatures, with BF Evo it was annoying to have to play the basic rules.
- Make sure the minis are ready, this must not be a rushed process.
- Make it affordable. As I said at the BF:Evo doubles tourney, in the case of bugs especially, sell the larger miniatures with models you will always need! So a Plasma Bug with some Warrior bugs. I'm glad this was mentioned in S&P as an idea that may well go ahead.
- Do not make the paintjobs too fiddly. A basecoat followed by ink will probably make most happy, just a drybrush can finish this kind of paintjob as Mr.Evil constantly shows at these tournaments.
- Don't just bring out a little, bring out as much as possible for the first wave, obviously, make sure they are fair. But give us a 'present' for waiting. So say 3 or releases per faction then another 1 or 2 every month following.
- Don't let it take over BF:Evo or vice-versa, they are both great games. They both deserve new releases, but I am just as happy with new cards on the site as suggested in S&P this month.

Think of it this way, MGP were meant to be leading the pre-painted market yes? Look at AT-43, it's not that popular. It came out first. Why? They have a huge design team always working on the product and they wait until it is ready. Good things come to those who wait, on both sides of production.

Tell me, how hard is any of this to follow? It seems like you haven't thought of this. Take inspiration from other leaders in the indie wargaming business. Theres Rackham and Privateer press. Both wait until they have the goods stocked away ready for release to tell people. If a show is near the time of expected release, they make more so that they do not run out!
They also have a huge staffing, MGP seems understaffed for all the games they release. Like they said at MH07, Mongoose_Acolyte was up until 1AM the night before making books until the machine ran out of ink (or broke, can't remember). All the books looked rushed. Surely this process could have been sped up vastly with more hands? Every member of the MGP staff looked completely knackered that day too. How many were there 8? Theres about 10 at MGP in Swindon yes? And about 6 in the US? PP have about 25 staffers officially and even more 'pressgangers' and other helpers. That's just in the US. In the UK they have just as many represent them at shows, same goes for the rest of the world. PP at salute were from Birmingham!

MGP are a great and friendly company, but they are biting off too much more than they can handle. Adrian seriously impresses me with how much he has to do. He has to Design sculpts, he does a bit of sculpting, he does all the painting AND he has to keep in touch with the factories in China making sure all is well. He is somewhat of a one man design team. This is mental. Seriously, have a think on how much one man is actually capable of.

This is the most positive thread in a while.

After a long wait, I'm back on track also, and I'm finaly starting to finish my Chickenhawk.

Give us these cards and let us try them out.

And I'm still waiting for a picture of the landing party crew ; )

agreed , this just might get me in gear to assemble the troops i got on the MGPplastic sale.. so many figures to assemble :D

LOL.
I have 2 of the main boxed sets, I built all the warrior bugs then got knackered building the second lot of MI!
So I have a half finished MI Army!
Not to mention the box of unassembled Skinnie Raiders!
Seeing the cards make me want to do a lot with my SST rather than leave it in a box thinking I will maybe use them some day.

@human_target: I like to think creatively and positively. Put ideas across rather than just complain like others on these forums.

So should we expect 2 more cards per faction, or are there really 5 cards per sheet? Either way, this is excellent news! Looking forward to seeing the stats myself soon. :) :D :)

Heh. You obviously missed out on PP's first wave of Warmachine :). But still good advice; no need to duplicate PP's early mistakes, after all.

Hey Poi,

maybe you could already enlighten us about the noticeable changes you've seen onthese cards.
Point costs, rules, etcetera etcetera...?

I'm getting real exited about them.

Right now I don't need those prepaints, what I want is to play!
And I've got a game planned this evening with L-bug (though we're going to try some house rules and mixing of rules to try to get the game still more dynamic and full of surprises - morale rules, pilots ejecting when Marauder gets shot to pieces (yes, we're taking this from at-43, maybe some spotting rules, whatever we feel like)

And please, let us see those landig parties.

Thanx

I'll photograph the landing party asap.
I'll see what I can do about scanning in the cards.

Though I feel this change needs to be made to any beam weapons:
The first model under the beam suffers the full effect, any model after this puts a cumulative modifier of -1 to the damage roll.
I say this especially in the case of skinnies, I also think venerables should not have a boneshard rifle, rather a boneshard pistol.

I'm testing stuff tonight as it says on the cards, but probably straight MI vs Bugs, depends how he feels.

If I understand this correctly, the first model under a (for instance) Hel Infantry Flamer gets the full damage of D10+2, the second D10+2-1, The third D10+2-2, the fourth D10+2-3 etc?

Oke, once you've tested it, let us know how it went.
