Terran Dawn Campaign Guide [Progress, Questions]

Questions

I'm making icons or symbols (such as the 3rd Imp. starburst) for several states in Terran Dawn or its history. But, I can't find symbols for all that I need:

1st Imperium: This symbol is easily found -Circle within a circle. But what is the true coloring? Seem many in black and white. One I found is the larger circle is black, the inner circle is red. Is this the correct coloring or is this an alternate such has some versions of the Starburst?

Terran Confederation: I have this one also. UN symbol with stars instead of laurels.

2nd Imperium: Rule of Man. I thought I saw this symbol somewhere, but can't find it now.

Splinter States of the Long Night: Old Earth Union, Easter Concord, Dingir League. I don't think anyone has ever created symbols for these, but someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

Progress

As stated below, I created a one-page website for Terran Dawn. Currently I have my first version of the History chapter available for download from the site. I need comments.

I would post the History chapter now in PDF for review, but artwork is lacking and I'm not 100% sure what I need yet regarding FUP.

Sturn, you have done a great job so far, really inspiring. If you need some artwork doing I would be happy to help out. :D

You should have remained quiet.

I would love artwork. :) Alls I'm capable of doing are maps, symbols, deck plans, and perhaps some line art of vehicles/starships using a CAD program.

Even my History chapter has some places (3 of them?) that have reserved places for artwork to help spice it up.

A piece of art to represent "Terran Dawn" would be nice. The history chapter has a symbolic piece in the top left corner of each page, for example - a blue sphere (Earth) with a gold sphere (Sol) behind it. Something like that in a gif would be nice. Perhaps like this? Or is the symbolic blue and gold sphere fitting for the chapters already? Simplicity has it's place sometimes.

But really, any art at all would be great!

This is a free project by the way, so I can only offer credits* and thanks.

*Edit - not the Imperial kind.

Beech I just looked at your website. I didn't realize how talented of an artist had offered to provide some art for my project.

So let me rephrase -

Disregard my requests, you are the artist, offer what you think would go well with my project and I will follow the master's orders!

Now I finally managed to lure myself away from my own setting to take
a look at the history chapter of your Terran Dawn Campaign Guide, and
I am very, very impressed - for me it is the best description of this part
of the Third Imperium's history I have ever seen in thirty years of rea-
ding Traveller material.

And now I am very much looking forward to the technology chapter of
your campaign guide, because I am certain that it will include a lot of
ideas that can help me to improve my own setting and campaign.

Wow! Thanks Rust! Great incentive for me to continue since this comes from a veteran Traveller. :D

Sorry, working on the Gazetteer (UWPs, maps, pocket empires) now.

Progress

V1.03 of History is final for now as I move on to the Gazetteer

I also put up a Research pdf that lists all of my sources. Dry stuff. If you see some source that is relevent that I missed please tell me.

Progress - New files up

I uploaded a player and referee version of a "Gazetteer" for the Terran Dawn campaign. Criticisms welcome. These documents include a sector map and UWP list. Link to the website in my signature below has these new pdfs and my previously completed history document.

Next Project

I'm now moving on to "The Old Earth" pocket campaign guide. These will be the beef of any campaign. Each pocket guide will cover a portion of the sector with information on interstellar governments, militaries, culture, common vehicles and starships encountered, a regional map, world descriptions, maps of the most important worlds, etc.

Once I get done with The Old Earth pocket guide, there will be enough for me or anyone else to start a campaign in this default starting location. Other guides will expand to other areas. I plan on each guide having a true difference in campaign character (military, exploration, court intrigue, etc).

Special thanks to Smiths121 and Rust for some excellent off-board criticism.

The campaign and ships all look to be very well done, thanks for sharing.

I finally got a chance to read through the site. Sturn, this is GREAT stuff.

I think you have done a great job of blending in the "official" history as well as coming up with some logical assumptions about contradictions in the canon material.

I look forward to reading more of the Gazetteers when they are finished.

Thanks for the vote of confidence sir! Comments like these certainly help inspire me to keep pecking away at this project.

Please do, this is really a very good setting. Very well thought through. :)

(and I must get round to doing those bits of artwork for you too)

I'm not sure if you've found it, since this question is over a month old, but the Rule of Man symbol is is in CT Alien Module 6: Solomani on page 6. I know you're using this book, but probably just escaped your notice.

I (we?) eventually found it but thanks.

Sturn,

I read through your Terran Dawn stuff yesterday. Excellent work!

I haven't played a game of Traveller since the beginning of the 80's when it was still fairly new. For someone like me, who hasn't played Traveller in so long, the history of the Traveller setting can get very confusing. Your background unwinds a lot of the confusing stuff by stepping back to an earlier period and providing a concise history thats easy to understand. I am intending to write and run and Traveller adventure at a local club in the nearish future. I don't intend to let your hard work go to waste and so plan to set my adventure against your Terran Dawn background.

Eagerly awaiting the first pocket guide

I hope you'll continue to develop Terran Dawn. It certainly looks like a labour of love. 8)

Glad you like it Garuda!

I'm working on The Old Earth pocket campaign guide almost daily (even when on vacation in Branson, MO between the tourist trips, my wife is a gamer too so she understands :) )

If you write an adventure placed in the Terran Dawn setting that you would like others to use, I could add it to my website?

Progress

Still working on the campaign guide for the Old Earth Union. It's grown to almost 70 pages with sections on history, government, military, culture, technology, organizations and worlds. Nothing that I can release yet, sorry.
