A small 100-ton Transport with J-3 range, for small companies and private owners. Useful for beginning groups, "other than standard" businessmen, prospective traders, Or groups not worried about hauling cargo for a living. They have their quirks, including a habit of causing headaches for new crew...litterally...watch the overhead. But they may be just what the group needs to get started as Starship owners.

Included are three variants:

Sandpiper:
standard model Lightly armored with thrust 3, and a triple turret for self defense. and a 12x8x3 meter cargo bay with large full height doors for easy loading and unloading.
Kestrel: J-3 thrust-6 armed inspection craft, squad level transport, with extra armor and breaching tube, as well as space reserved for anti-personnel weapons standard.
Dove: Medical evacuation and emergency response vessel. Carries several patients in beds, a Med Bay, or in emergency low berths for use by medical teams and search and rescue personel.
Full stats for each variation.

deck plans for each Variant. and Adventure seeds for two short adventures.

I am bumping this back up to ask, is this out? I want to make sure I have not missed it. :D
Can this work financially with only 21 tons of cargo?
I am still waiting for Drivethrurpg to activate it. I submitted it earlier this week.

I created it for the "other than standard" business model. since a Free Trader or Far Trader would do better in the standard model of a trading vessel. It's a good deal cheaper than a free trader, lower upkeep costs and can be crewed by a single person in a pinch. it also comes off the shelf with a triple turret x2 pulse lasers x1 sandcaster, and a computer that can run fire control III software without needing to be upgraded so it's a bit more useful as a private vessel than an S-type at around the same price.

It can be successful. as a pure cargo hauler it is limited and profits would be very tight. It's definitely better put to use by people who are not in the pickup and delivery business. It would be a good support and logistics supply boat, or mail carrier. in areas that don't receive regular visits by larger vessels. But an owner would have to be looking for something small, fast, wth longer than average jump range.

DISCLAIMER:
Rhictor Heavy Industries does not condone, or endorse,or encourage, the use of its design for Semi-legal, Quasi-Legal, or downright illegal activities. The owner assumes all civil, legal, and moral responsibility for his or her own actions once the vessel leaves the yard.

To be honest, I am interested in the Rescue/Medical response version. I am really thinking of running a game with the characters as crew for a medical response type role. In that kind of role, I imagine the cargo to be less about trade and more about supplies for the mission assigned, medicine or other such consumables used by the staff. :D

Nice idea a great alternate scenario for a group. The "Dove" should fit the bill.

the medivac comes standard with several Emergency low berths, that could be pulled out for extra cargo space. but it has a full med bay and room for two medics, two "search and rescue technicians" and crew

The book i now up on TAS hope you enjoy.

The summary grid for both the Kenstrel & the Dove (Page 7 & 11) give cargo as "tons". But based on the summary grid given for the William Byrd (Page 2) I suspect you meant to return and fill in the correct number of tons in those slots.

I would list the standard computer software that comes with the ship or state none is included. Right now, none is listed so I must assume the programs needed are in addition to the costs listed.

Lastly, there are a few spelling and grammar errors that I would fix. They are small but some just beg to be fixed. Things like "The would be best used..." or "Should the party posses an personal weapons...". These kinds of small errors can take away from the perceived value of a product.

Overall I think this is a great start for a first product. It just needs a little polish to make it better, in my opinion. :D

I'll add a standard and enhanced software list to the next revision :)

"Off the shelf" the ship just comes with the basic software needed to operate it. The computer is set up to handle such things as fire control, and evasion software if the owner wishes to instal advanced software later or add it to the cost of the ship as an extra.

Thanks. I will fix those errors. I run several checks when I do the draft, then run a couple more as I lay out the book. Some always manage to creep through.

TW next relase is in process..a nice big 500 ton J-3 merchantman, armor, guns, decent thrust and the option of carrying 250 tons of external cargo and still manage J-2.
