Tamiya "Green stuff"

As the real "green stuff" isn't available in my country, and I'm running out of brown stuff (aka gas tank repair kit), I went shopping for similar material. That's when I came across the Tamiya epoxy putty.

It comes in two versions, light green and yellow. Light green stuff is "smooth surface", Yellow stuff is "quick setting".

If anybody has used it, are they any good? Can anybody explain the usage of each version? They're not as cheap as (actually almost 4 times the price) brown stuff, so I'd rather not rush into buying.

you might try Pro-Create and see if it is available.

Green Stuff is actually manufactured under the trade name Kneadatite and comes in Green and Brown versions.

I think the Tamiya putty you're referring to is for filling gaps in models and is similar to Squadron Green Putty. It's not suitable for sculpting as it is much thinner, like toothpaste, and sticks to everything like glue. Look for ProCreate, quickley becoming the standard in modeling putty.

@ Sgt Brassones: no, it's definitely a two part epoxy putty. The paste-like one has been available for a long time. This one's new.

ProCreate, never seen them around here. Is it better than green/brown stuff?

Pro-Create is made by the same company that makes green/brown stuff but it is specifically formulated for mini sculpting. Here are some reviews/comments and places to buy:

You could also look for Milliput, another two-part epoxy putty. This stuff is definitely usable for both sculpting and filling; I've used it for both myself.

I have used both Miliput and Green Stuff for many years.

Milliput is designed as a filler and when cured sands down very well. Green stuff, Brown stuff, Pro Create are specifically designed for sculpting so hold fine detail and most importantly sharp edges much better than Milliput.

Of course, GS etc are not as good as Miliiput for filling particularly if needed to be sanded down.

Horses for courses.

Tried some of the Tamiya stuff, GS and the rest are far better for sculpting, and for that matter Milliput is far better for filling.

There are different versions of Milliput. The silver/grey or superfine white versions might be better than the normal grey/yellow for sculpting edges.

I have used all the variants over the years, usually go with superfine white exclusively these days, for filling.

Green stuff etc is still better for sculpting.
