System Review - Oghma

Emperor Mongoose
The planetary stats have changed from the previous stats (Travellermap used as a reference). The TL is 9, with a class-B starport. Except they need at least Jump-2 technology AND an A class starport to build starships. If nobody is selling them weapons, who is stupid enough to sell them jump drives? And they don’t have an underlying tech base to support it. Plus the worlds they raid don’t have smart people like jump drive techs to kidnap and bring back. Engineers captured in piracy might fix things, but they can’t build them.

It’s crazy to think that everyone knows Oghma is raiding planets in the entire sector, but somehow their ships aren't attacked on site? And these guys are afraid of hitting GeDoCo because of… why? They are xenophobes, raiders, slavers and pretty bat-sh*t crazy. They are outside of the Imperium, so no Imperial law would stop them from preying on far more lucrative shipping. The explanation for the world seems at conflict with itself, and that doesn’t appear to fit with the narrative being provided.

Arguably one might say that GeDoCo provide various modes of support to Oghma because they fulfill some sort of role in an evil master plan (cue Dr. Evil) they have for the sector. Except the risk of supporting slavers means there's a risk of getting caught AND punished by the Imperium. It could be quite costly for a megacorp, and other megacorps would love to see them fail. So it's possible, just a bit implausible. Though I've not done the Drinax campaign so maybe the idea was to republish that under CRB 2.0 and flesh things out a bit. If not it seems like it would be better to eliminate these guys, or at least change it around somewhat so that the entire planet isn't known for this, just some crazy outlaws... see, plausible deniability! But then they coudn't be xenophobic as a culture, or that would kind of put a dent in the "those are the wild and crazy guys you want" story.
