Suppressive Fire

Does anyone know if Mercenary will include rules for suppressive fire?

If not, or in the meantime, how about this:

Automatic weapons may be used to conduct suppresive fire. The firer designates a location into which the suppressive fire will be directed. Suppressive fire uses the same amount of ammunition as auto fire. If a character wishes to move into or through an area subject to suppressive fire, he or she must roll 8+ (Tactics, Endurance). A character with Leadership skill can make a Leadership check and add the effect to this roll for every character under their leadership, including themselves.

If suppressive fire is directed against cover which characters are sheltering behind, they must make a roll as above in order to return fire from behind their cover.

My mind is a littel fuzzy right now (getting late and way past bed time), but I thought there was something in the rules that mentioned suppresive fire; or it may have been the play test rules. I will look around tomorrow for it and let you know what I find unless someone else knows.

There was some discussion of suppressive fire during the playtest phase, and I presented a system compatible with T/E. Gar commented that the Timing and dodge rules already modelled suppressive fire (atlhough I think that may have been because I wasn't clear with respect to what my rule was actually trying to model).

Heh. I'm finding my only problem with Mongoose republishing Traveller is having to wait for the books to become available.

But at least they are coming out month apart instead of years apart like they did in CT.

By the end of this year, you could have a pretty comprehensive collection of MGT stuff.

TMB, Mercenary, High Guard, Spinward Marches, Traders and Gunboats, 760 Patrons, plus whatever else gets published...

Just those books will give you just about everything you need, adventures, settings detail rules, ships. Lots of goodness in a short time.

Being the impatient person that I am, even months feel like decades.

That's about what I figure as well. I'm fortunate enough to have started collecting Traveller 'way back in the Stone Age of the late 70s and can convert what I've got but I'm really impressed by what Mongoose has done with expanding CT's playability. I really want to see what they do with Merc and HG.
