Its a fascinating book. I have a few reservations about the religion; Its a very good summation of ancient egyptian religion plugging in Set where Horus and Ra sit, but the historical pantheon is a little too nice to fit well. REH's Set is based on Apophis, not Set, and I think in my campaigns I'll go with that.
That said, the stuff about the actual Cult of Set is first class, and the coverage of the three power blocs and their interactions is excellent. I disagree about the map as well; while not much use for a travel guide, it's perfect for an RPG supplement. It has enough detail to give a general framework, while leaving plenty of room for GMs to plug in campaign specific material. It abandons the decamp version of the southern border, as well, which I think is correct. The gazetteer is written on a similar philosophy, again quite rightly I think. I get a good general feel for the places and a few hooks without being tied in to anything. The cultural material is also very useful.
All in all, a fine piece of work!
