Sturn's Deck Plans (previously named 'May I post a.....')

Sturn

Banded Mongoose
I completed my own Type S Scout deck plan based on the MGT tonnages. Would it be bad taste or upsetting to Mongoose to post a link here due to MGT already previewing their own deck plan?

I'm not trying to make any point at all, just want to share my work and get flamed, I mean critiqued, about how good or bad my plans are. :)

I was looking for someone official to give me an ok? I didn't want the upset the powers that be.

Yes, but he doesn't want to upset anyone or look like a criticism of their deckplans in light of the thread criticising the official ones. He wants it to be taken as, "hey look at this cool thing I made", not "you guys suck, this is how it's done".

Thanks Tathlum, this is exactly what I meant.

I'd like to see it, too. I don't think anyone will take is as being critical of MGT deckplans (especially now that we're asking to see it!).

It sucks!

There now no one can say you were trying to out do the ship design from Mongoose, who only enhanced the ship design from Classical Traveller (CT).

P.s. I would still like to see it. :D

Almost 24 hours since I posted and no one has told me not to so my link is below.

Note this is my first ever AutoREALM deckplan so please be gentle if you can! I hope to improve as I do more.

Please read my notes when looking at the plans which may answer your questions of why I did certain things.

Scout (survey/courier models)

I completed the Seeker in AutoREALM, but have'nt exported it to PNG or created the webpage yet. I actually like it better then my survey and courier versions since I had fun making the ship seem capable of actually gathering and processing ore. I will get it up by tomorrow night?

I really like this. I like what you have done and think it could be a fun change from my normal one.

Well Done.

Daniel

Congratulations, your plan look super detailed and very useable. Can't comment on the grid scale as I'm not a math nerd (and don't care enough).

If I were going to make one comment, and it's a tiny comment, I would like to see a side view of the ship.

That looks pretty much like the original Scout/Courier published by GDW. If I remember correctly, the scale then was that each square side was 1.5m.

Yes I tried to make it look like the CT version as much as I could while correcting tonnage errors and adding MGT stuff (see my notes before the plans).

Yes it's 1.5m scale. I thought that was given for most of us. I didn't put it on the plans themselves (might if I make a more printable PDF version someday), but it's in the notes on the webpage.

The 'outter' squares average 1.5x1.5x1.5, while the 'inner' squares average 1.5x1.5x3 (standard). I did this to reflect the wedge shape of the ship. 1 ton per 4 for the fuel and gray spaces, 1 ton per 2 squares for most of the inner stuff (a few exceptions of sloped ceilings in the notes).

Wow, that's excellent!

I really like it too!

One small nit.

Could you number the compartments and show them on your descriptions?

Not a big deal for this ship layout, but if you get bigger ships, things could get confusing.

Great Job!

I might with another version, but I made these with a thought in mind that someone might wish to scale them and print them out. I didn't want a person to "walk" onto the bridge with his miniature, and say "Hey why is there a large #1 printed on the floor?" I had some numbers placed, but thought it was distracting to the plans.

If I make a printer-friendly "handout" PDF version of the webpage (1 or 2 pages?), I will probably have it number-coded.

Nice one Sturn, sir! :)

If I had one small niggle, would be that the stateroom's heads are bigger than my whole bathroom. At 10' by 5' there's enough room for a hot tub! ;)
