Statue ideas

Hey everyone,
Im currently working on some terrain in preparation for the big release. Anyone have any good ideas on making some sort of statue piece? I keep trying to think of something, but my brain isnt working. What kind of statue do u think would exist in Kreplakistan :?:

To steal a real world example a gold plated statue of their glorious leader that rotates to face the sun. Or on the tabletop a figure sprayed with gold paint on one of those motorised model turntables you can buy.

For a bit of fun a GW Space Marine figure with a Verdigrised finish outside of a bunker. I am told that the Nottingham taxi drivers refer to the GW HQ as the Reichstag. Any old figure given such a finish and plonked on a plinth becomes a stature.

For pillars you can buy fluted dowel from DIY shops. Add a few washers on the top and bottom and you are sorted.

I remember blundering onto some pictures of Nazi era memorials and always planned to copy their style but using GW space marines instead. I fear though that such a none to subtle jibe would just pander to the worst element of such wargamers (not of course that they are limited to the GW end of the hobby, we all know at least one of them).

just get some mi and rip off the flag raising us marines picture that became so popular near the end of WW2, you probably know the one i mean.

i'm currently working on one myself, but i'm combining a fountain from miniatures building authority (nice wide base-like center), and a free mini mongrel or mofo had sent me from their falklands series.

sort of a veterans memorial. works for ME (iran/iraq war) and just about anything else you could want.

Oh that is such an obvious idea and brilliant idea – once someone else has had it!

We must all have oodles of 1/35th scale figures lying around. I have a bad habit of buying them to scavenge bits and pieces for wargaming figures which leaves the 1/35th ones left lying forlorn in a box though a friend is convinced they are the prefect scale for skirmish wargaming and has been able to find who has the moulds for the ancient 1/35th (or more likely 1/32nd) scale Airfix soft plastic vehicles and scenic sets.

I did not care for GW's Inquisitor rules or figures but what did interest me a lot was to hear that they were play tested using converted 1/35th scale soldiers. That sounds like a lot of fun. Way OT for BfE but a reasonably well detailed skirmish game would be very nice (hintedy-hint-hint).

I saw a Dragon set that had a sniper with a Barrett .50 BMG rifle. That would be interesting.

I would think a KV-1 or T-34 in the middle of a square, on a raised brick dais might also work as an alternative. If you make it game-functional, as it would be an extremely funny and surprising ambush unit when the attackers try to take the city center  .

After-action debrief: "Why did you not capture the target, Captain?"

"We thought we had them, sir. They fell back, behind the city square and our armor units advanced past an old war relic. When it was in our rear, it opened fire on our lower-defended rear aspects and then the civilians began throwing Molotov Cocktails from the front. We didn't have a chance, sir!"

Dunno about statue styles, most western countries, even Russia you could do a 1/35th Napoleonic/18thC guy on a horse pointing, that always seems to be a favourite, especially if the horse is rearing? I'm laughing cos I've still got a copy of the original picture, before GW found it!!
