Starting the Drakh...

Vorlon ships may use any Special Actions except All Hands to Deck!, Close Blast Doors and Activate Defense Grid!, Run Silent! and Stand Down and Prepare to be Boarded!
So then, they can use CAF, come about, scanners to full, all stop, all stop and pivot, scramble, scramble! (not that they can actually use this except in campaigns anyways), all power to engines and so on... not bad.

Not sure where 'this version of the rule' is coming from tbh cos the most up to date one that I know of is in SFoS and they specifically CANT use CAF... They dont change the rule at all in armageddon, it just changes the ships themselves and adds charged energy pulse.

*whiney voice* But cmon, dude, the Prefect has, like, no rear weapons, guy. Hey let's go play some Counterstrike!!

That's exactly why I'm thinking of staying away from Centauri. I like them, but they don't seem to have much depth and the coolest-looking ships in the fleet (IMHO) don't seem to be very good or used very often.

I may take another look at Vorlons. I've always liked them and your comments have been very helpful.

As for the Drakh, I'm still leaning towards them because they ARE hard to play. I used to play Dark Eldar in my WH40K days and I play very fragile, fast, hard-hitting armies in all the other games I play as well. I sort of like the archetype.

My question is, are the Drakh hard-hitting and fast enough (in your experience) to warrant their fragility? Have they placed well or won any tournaments in your area (I'm of course keeping in mind that tournament wins aren't necessarily indicative of army worth)?

I also only got one comment back about painting the ships. I know a lot of you dislike the models, but apart from the Tiger Drakh, how many other well-painted Drakh fleets have you seen? Can a good paintjob make up for the models? I was thinking of painting mine a very dark green (almost black) highlighted with a jade green marble pattern irregularly over the hull.

Well not much help on the painting front but...

Contary to what certain people have said only the Drakh raiders actually look like the ships from the series. Neither of the two Cruisers look like the larger Drakh ships seen in the series and ACTA the movie. The Mothership doesn't either. And the Carrier and Destroyer are Mongoose extras...

Sorry for my lack of help but I just had to say that at some point after reading some other comments elsewhere...

In my opion the Drakh speed and Weaponry DOES make up for their fragility and their GEGs are more effective than you might think ;)

They did well in the last tourney I played in (not my fleet ;)) and I've found them to be VERY effective if used well.

Their play style does very much lean towards Eldar, Wood Elves that style of thing.

The other races that play in a similar style in my oppion are ISA and Vree (though vree take the whole 'fragile but manueverable' thing to extremes, they all maneuver like fighters but, more or less, die like them too ;))

Should look good. And closer to the TV show Drakh than anything else I've seen....

Or, in other words: some players think they should be changed, but Mongoose has no plans to do so.

Not quite true - you will find it very difficult to lay your hands on large numbers of motherships and carriers right now, as they are only being made to order. Both are due for resculpting within the next few months (we have a _lot_ of new and revised ships to get through - more news on that later!), as well as some re-statting for the next set of fleet lists. Yup, the Mothership becomes Armageddon. . .

Do those of us that shelled out for the badly cast poorly designed orginals get our money back?

I might be able to arrange replacements for the new designs - how would that be?

Yay, as I suggested before, hopefully with the Mothership launching Cruisers rather than Raiders! Similar stats to present but launching four Cruisers...mmmmm

I could definitely get behind that. Really make the Mothership something to fear.

It's been proposed. Issues of balance are being considered. Remember this would mean a Mothership coming with 'free' Cruisers...

And restocking 2 of those cruisers for free, in campaigns...

I think light cruisers would be more sensible. Although a lot of the fluff does say cruisers. Of course this could have been done with armageddon... *ducks for cover*

Well there is that, but then, a mothership carrying Cruisers is gonna be an even juiceyer target than it is currently, so it'll draw even more fire than it does now (if that's possible lol) so I wouldn't be too confident at getting all those Cruisers/Light Cruisers launced before the Huge Hangars go offline or the thing gets totally whacked.

Go on, suggest it gets another 50 damage points and Hull 5, just for a laugh
