Still got all my Chainmail, BUT its a totally different kettle of fish. SSTE is a sort of 2nd Edition, with a new way of presenting the Armies
*nod* I can go there, and I think most of us knew the rules would be *doh* the long, thoughtful paragraph on what type of game we are goign to got nuked. Just assume you were all amazed by my prose

.
Trying to sum it up: I'm worried the complicated game I love is going beer and pretzels.
You've just validated their decision to do this, with so much choice you need something to 'tempt' people to play SST.
Yup, I have to give you that one. I guess the question is if it is tempting *me* to play. So far....it just dosen't sound like the kind of game I really get into.
But there is ABSOLUTELY nothing stopping you individualizing your army, more highlights & shading, overpainting or conversions. I can't see what the problem is.
Ah, I think the diffrence is a simple repaint, or did I make it from a kit? Even a solid metal figure with a blank base to me counts as a kit; I still have lots of choices of what to do. Sure, I can still mod it, but its much easier (for me) when its in kit form. I guess the thing is I *like* to assemble the models and paint them. If I didn't, I would have choosen mechwarrior or some such instead of SST...but now SST is changing.
You will soon find that you will build up a lot of 'bits' nevertheless, plus there are the sets which aren't pre-painted. Try to look at this positively, why not learn to sculpt!
25+ years of trying has resulted in a fascinating array of blobish shapes with funny proportions

. Trying for all these years has given me a huge amount of respect for well sculpted figs, as I have a clue exactly how hard that is to pull off.
What about nagging Mongoose into doing an 'Accessory' Box for MI
Sounds like they may have that planned already...as it is now, I'm waiting for an order of MI weapon sprues, and I wish I could have got that in a package rather than order bits

. Didn't anyone else want to put two javelins in their MI squad??

I'm not sure what you meant by this . . . . [/quote]
Oh, its an american expression. When they sell you a car over here, they have to put its gas mileage in a sticker in the window. Since they do the milage test in an air conditioned room on rollers, the number on the window mysteriously is never the same as what you actually get. So, in the small print it always says "Your Milage May Vary". We use it to mean you can think what you think, and I can think what I think.
