Starship Troopers Campaign

Mongoose
My first experience on these forums was pretty positive, so here I go again.

I'm considering running a military-focused, Starship Troopers-inspired game. Has anyone run a similar campaign? If so, what are the most important elements to keep in mind, either plot wise or rule wise? How do I make this game have the right feel?

Any advice welcome!
Thanks,

Make sure you pick up the Mercenary Supplement.

Also, Mongoose will be publishing a Starship Troopers supplement for Traveller soon (and a Hammer's Slammers book). Both of those will be a great help when released.

Also, I recommend that you let each player have more than one character. Death is pretty common in this kind of game.

There's another *ahem* non-Mongoose published ST RPG out there based upon D20, which while it's hampered by that system, has plenty of material that could easily be converted to the Traveller rules if you are will to spend a bunch of time doing it.

It played rather well, but maybe it was the GM, but after a couple of campaigns, it was becoming same same. Oh look, more bugs! Nuke em like we nuked the last 57 planets full of them! Or the alien race, the Skinnies, ah what the hell, nuke them too!

*Blasphemous recounting of another RPG system over*

I'm not sure if there is a d20 Starship Troopers RPG by another company. Certainly I have not heard about it but there is certainly d20 Starship Troopers RPG by Mongoose but the line got canceled.

I'm pretty sure that project was cancelled.

Wait? When did this happen?
I could be wrong. I can't seem to find any forum posts on it.

I was really looking forward to that :(
Me too. Helped push me into buying the core Traveller system initially. I don't regret starting Traveller at all though. Good fun in a MASSIVE game world.

Dude, that WAS Mongoose. Changing the engine won't make it stop being about killing bugs, and in Mongooses' defence, the United Citizens Federation book was full of Non-Bug, Non-Skinny, roleplaying stuff on criminal underworlds, rogue psychics and resistance movements for thos who see the UCF as a fascist dictatorship.

A-HA! Yeah, well I was a player in the game, so perhaps the fault lay in the GMs coming up with ideas for it...
