hey guys, I know its an old game and probably an old mod but i stumbled across this today. its a mod for making the game B5 style with all your fav races in there.
had my ISA ass handed to me by the league and so beat up on the EA with vorlons (they do have planet killer but its not that powerful i dont think).
its only for use for skirmish play, or possibly multiplayer but worth digging out your old games for :)

Yeah there are a couple of mods been made for Armada 2. I was making one myself once (that's why i've got 3d models of b5 ships - i make those instead of "real" models.

The b5a2 mod is great, I agree. There is another one called "Age of Expansion" currently in progress, based on the Dilgar War, which also looks promising.
 
Hmm, dunno if I even own Armada 2. I definately own armada one, will have a mooch for it tonight though, always enjoyed it 8)
 
Must admit great fun - both versions - will have a play sometime with this. A Mirror Universe version would be fun! (best bit out of Star Trek esp the Enterprise one :D )

Well just because it's good at blowing up PLANETS doesn't mean it's good at blowing up smaller ships :D Main gun for example isn't most convinient weapon to shoot at small targets thousands of kilometers apart :-)

They likely don't escort it with huge fleet just for fun :lol:
 
but you cant blow up planets either :)
do like the idea behind the shadowstar. drakh get hold of whitestar techplans during the minbo civil war and finish it with shadowtech :)
 
If you play with unlimited resources it is a real challenge especially if you run against league. League and Centauri mainly rush as AI and the Minbari along with Vorlons build up and send a fleet enmasse. Just watch out for 3rd space capitalships.

They got some nice designs
 
yeah got hit by 3rd space fighters in the league rush.
couldnt figure out how to get drakh ships for the centauri, can see them there to be built but couldnt get them.
shadows and vorlons are properly hard, i think maybe unbalanced unless facing each other.
 
I enjoy playing the mod every week or two. Much fun in multiplayer with some other AI players. Watch out for some PSI Corps shuttles 8) !!!
 
I own it.

If you thought carriers sucked in ACtA, just wait till you control some of the turds in THIS game.

Shadows are WAAAAAY too good... and Narn are WAAAAAY too bad.
 
I´ve been playing this mod regularly for... I don´t know, years. I like it, BUT it keeps on crashing at the most inconvenient moments. Still, I love it.

Just make sure to get the patched version and the musicfiles, it will definitely improve the whole thing even further (until it crashes again... :? )

Still, I´ve been thinking about using the "Shadow Star" idea for a special scenario. Then again, you could just use White Star miniatures and play them with the normal Drakh rules. A White Star Carrier as a Drakh Carrier, Shadow Stars as light cruisers or something like that - damn, I think I´ve just started a new fleet project! :D
 
if you do the special A2 tech tree in multiplayer you get the Strieb as League, EA gets an EA Whitestar named the Ares class, and Narn Get raiders. The best tactic for Narn is to Bin'Tak bomb the opposing side's base. Jump a Bin'Tak inside their base and use the Jump engine overload vortex = massive ownage.

Actually that sounds about right to me. Shadows are SUPPOSED to be sick and wrong, and Narns lose pretty much every fight we see on screen. Hell the only major fight they actually WIN they still explode :P

Doesn't it take energy to implode the jump engines? You use 70 just to jump...

Streip suck by the way... and I haven't gotten the EA White Star... and I've been playing for at least 2 or 3 years... :?
 
hmm will have to check for EA whitestar. I have had shadow stars (shadows), and greystars (minbari) as well as whitestars.
played a couple more games today:
the ISA - wow you get all the 1st ones and can make multiples of them :)
the Narn - G'quans blow up as easily as in the show. good job they can get technomages on their side :)
minbari - these are amusing, especially the big green sharlin with a tinashi stuck on its nose.
centauri - got the drakh, boy are they nasty. plus you get a shadow fleet attck special :) good stuff.

dont use the jump engines, use a jump gate and get the bin'tak in then explode it. better with a tigara that can just do shockwaves :)
