So I have known about SFB for decades, but never really got into it. Started to dip my toes when the Starmada conversion came out, but with the Mongoose SL2500 series and ACTA, really getting into it.

My question is, I want more of the background material. What books (either SFB or FC) would be the best investment in this? I also have no problems adding another game to the library either...

Really looking for materials -- especially on ships -- beyond what ACTA has in it.

If you want general background go with any of the Prime Directive books. For data on ships you'd want Star Fleet Battles ship descriptions. They are scattered about piecemeal in nearly every SFB product; you'd pretty much have to get them all. ADB is working on a series of new Master Starship Books for each race. These will supposedly be completely revised and organized ship descriptions for each race. This project is taking forever and probably won't net them much money (as most SFB players already have this info) so there isn't a lot of incentive to work on it.
