SST Miniatures List

The idea of a "re-boot" is not terribly off the mark. While there were some very nice Skinnie figs in the v.1 range (IMHO), pretty much all of the range will be re-done. And ultimately increased. The whole Skinnie "concept" is being re-worked and expanded. I know this for a fact, because I'M doing it. I watch the comments you post like a hawk, so your input is absolutely vital...and is being taken very seriously.

That's making me interested, thanks for the update!

Will the skinnie physiology be getting a bit of a redesign? It's not unprecidented in sci-fi media (Klingons, Drazi). Plus the onion-layer's concept makes it more then applicable, that way the currently in-production models could be of the same sub-species?

nanite, that would be a method to at least salvage the current investment of the models already bought by many of the players. A small added section in the new race description could reference some, shall I say, "retarded" offshoots of the central Skinnie DNA.

That would be not unlike having modern Homo sapiens living on one planet and on another is a Homo neanderthalensis derivative.

Using your Babylon 5 reference, remember the Hyach and the (now extinct) Hyach-do?

Suggestion to company:
I recall a propaganda add form the CGI series aorund the time that T'Phai joined the Roughnecks, showing a bunch of skinnies at a MI camp to train.

Suggestion: Skinni Platoon, using no ambush but MI command structure. Just a suggestion. It would be nice to see how that works.

Maybe just use PAMI rules with the Skinnie flame rule and dodge save. A slight increase in points for the bonuses of course.

Onions? Why not cake? Cake has layers.

Oh, and as long as I can still have brutes, tawn riders, and dacon hounds, I'll be happy.

Yes, I will push for Dacon Hound models until I'm pushing daisies.

Chant it with me now!

But a Cake is flat, its layers only exist in two dimensions Lol!:D

Eat enough cake and then look at how round and three-dimensional your belly will get. As to onions, I think that someone's been watching Schreck lately. Too funny, STC noticed that too.

Anybody? Bueller, Bueller?

Will the models on the list that are going away still be usable in 2.0?

If not why would we want to buy them if they will no longer be usable?

I have a bunch of stuff on that list and was just curious as to what will happen to the ones that don't make the cut?

It was in the first post of this thread (well, a rough idea anyways) -

Hi guys,

With the SST range being put on the shelf at the end of this year as we run up to the game's re-release in 2008, some have been asking which models are staying and which are going to be no more.

The following is a list that is by no means complete, and we reserve the right to change our minds when something better comes along (!), but it should give you a good idea of which models will no longer be available on general release.

These models will be deleted from the range or otherwise replaced;

Plastic Power Suit Troopers
Metal MI Missile Launcher from Heroes box set
Some Female Cap Troopers won't make the grade, though no firm decisions there
Support Missiles
Micro Support Platforms will be revised (and renamed, incidentally)
Stalwarts
Nighthawk Marauder
Bigfoot Marauder
MkII K9 Squad

Hopper Bugs
Tanker Bug
Firefries
Brain Bug
Mantis Assassin/Hunter
King Tanker
Thorny Tanker
Cliff Mites

Skinnie Raiders
Skinnie Warchief
Venerables & Lord
Slaves & Slave Leader

There are also some models on the ??? List, which means no decision has yet been made on them - the Skinnie Militia is one of them, the Blister/Blasters another.

Hope this helps!

Does this mean they are being taken out, or redone to get get better minis?

On the first page it lists the ones that will be gotten rid of, clearly, ones that will be considered to be dropped, but in general everything will be revised, teaked and enhanced, but kiss the ugly units goodbye.

And thats where the quote came from but doesnt say which is which though.

Thanks LT.

Yeah I got the gist of what he was saying, but it was really vague on whether on not we would still be able to use the units being dropped.

I would think alot of us would be kinda miffed if we had allthese units that suddenly we couldn't use anymore.

Thanks.

From what I recall all the models will be reusable in one way or another, but I think the skinnie army structure itself is being rethought. As it is a volume 2 I do not think it will be a whole '3rd edition 40k' thing going on, I dont think anything could be that bad. From what I understand there would be more a new version of it tweaked like the new warmachine primer. Volume 2 as opposed to Edition 2.

Also begs the question of whether deleted means the unit will no longer in the game at all or the minis will simply not be coming back in their previous form?

I assume the missiles, the Metal MI Launcher and probably the Stalwarts will disappear.
The first two ones aren't necessary at all, and the later can easily be built from scratch.

Yep, or kit-bashed.
