SST Miniatures List

Hi guys,

With the SST range being put on the shelf at the end of this year as we run up to the game's re-release in 2008, some have been asking which models are staying and which are going to be no more.

The following is a list that is by no means complete, and we reserve the right to change our minds when something better comes along (!), but it should give you a good idea of which models will no longer be available on general release.

These models will be deleted from the range or otherwise replaced;

Plastic Power Suit Troopers
Metal MI Missile Launcher from Heroes box set
Some Female Cap Troopers won't make the grade, though no firm decisions there
Support Missiles
Micro Support Platforms will be revised (and renamed, incidentally)
Stalwarts
Nighthawk Marauder
Bigfoot Marauder
MkII K9 Squad

Hopper Bugs
Tanker Bug
Firefries
Brain Bug
Mantis Assassin/Hunter
King Tanker
Thorny Tanker
Cliff Mites

Skinnie Raiders
Skinnie Warchief
Venerables & Lord
Slaves & Slave Leader

There are also some models on the ??? List, which means no decision has yet been made on them - the Skinnie Militia is one of them, the Blister/Blasters another.

Hope this helps!

Can this be stickied as it is upgraded and stuff?

EDIT:
Since plastic caps are being hauled, will the pathfinders suffer the same fate?

Current plan for Pathfinders is for them to be a mixed media release.

As an ex- real world Pathfinder myself, can you believe for a second that I won't do everything in my power to make sure that these figs are way cool? WAYYYYY cool... :D

Regards.

A couple of things confuse me:

Plastic MI Caps, and Hoppers are great models, the only issue with Caps is that people are lazy in their construction, but they look great, so I understand that one I guess.

The Hoppers? Some people don't like the legs? Never thought much about it...

And how can you possibly not put the blasters on there? They look so bad compared to the CGI bugs, and are a pain to construct... not to mention how adorable they look (not a good thing for bugs)

just IMO of course.

PS: I think the Skinny Raiders are fine... its the rest of the range that needs work.

That could imply different things. I have the models, so my questions are on future use of existing modesl covered in that list.

Will all the models on this list still have stats for the new game?

For example, will support missiles still be models on the table or abstracted with no need for a physical model?

Will stats for other models on the list not be included in the first rulebook and be released in later books?

I imagine most of these would be resculpts and hence old stuff would still be tourney legal.

The missiles are a bit pointless, but most of this list (particularly the arachnid stuff and skinnie stuff) will be pure resculpts.

A much nicer plastic MI sprue with more options and bitz could form the core of the new pathfinders (ie add some metal pathfinder bits or an additional sprue.

The only thing it sounds like they are getting rid of/changing a lot is the micro-support platforms. The Nighthawk, bigfoot and MkII K9 squad will probably stay as rescuplts, though a couple more marauder variants would be a logical step to get some more use out of the sprues and add variety to marauder plasyers.

Personally I'd like to see a plastic CHAS with variant layouts (possibly a CHAS 2.0 model, or human sized battle droids).

it would make me ridiculously happy to see the CHAS bot approach the scale it should be at, IE 1.5 times taller than a trooper.

And force players to use them in the squad, that would be much more characterful if you ask me. They are an unstable asset, you wouldn't trust them to be 'on their own' and running around.

Not to mention Variants would be awesome.

I don't understand what's the problem with the firefries.
These are really sweet models (need to order another 15 before 31st, so I have my target of 50 before they get unavailable).

The standard pose is boring but if you just bend them a bit - you don't even need to modify a thing - they look just awesome:

Can you give us an idea of which models you still have in stock? Is everything still available (until Dec 31st) - even if there is a wait?

Ya, but I heard a lot of people who got them compalined about problems with the mould lines and casting. I would hazard a gues that some miniatres may stay fairlt similar with different legs or parts, or have a revised casting process or new mould.

I have 35 Firefries and they are certainly one of the best models MGP can offer in terms of casting quality and moldlines (some parts don't even have significant moldlines).

Ya. Might be it. I noticed there was something not right about the models siz and stat in the past but could not remember at the moment. Is the size of the miniatures fine, or could they increase the stat, or make the mini smaller and have more in a set.
