SST Evo Launch Date?

AlphaStrike

Mongoose
Anyone notice that there are no SST EVO products listed in either the April or May releases? :?

Has the launch been officially moved back to June (or beyond)?

Hi guys,

An announcement is coming soon - got some _very_ interesting things going on in the background. . .

like "we'v miscalculated the factory efficiency, the game's pushed back 3 months"
or like "we'v miscalculated the factory efficiency, the game's gonna be released tommorow with a free "Roger Young" 1:72 model as a freebie"?
sure hope it's the second one.even without the Roger Young 8)

that will be ol'bear rustling his fish and chips behind you i recon ;) damn that ol'bear

Im new to SST, and should be receiving my models soon... I really hope that they keep the unpainted, unassembled boxes also in stock, as I am really looking forward to building and painting my stuff before I go crush mine enemies on the table top. Rumors I have heard are that they will continue to make unpainted, unassembled models. Is that true?

O YE GODS let it be true I can still buy my paintless, unassembled little buggers!

Comments?

They'll continue to make the existing unpainted ranges available, but they wont be making any newer unpainted models.

Poo anyone know any good rules sets ? I have couple thousand mongoose miniatures we could do with some rules.

Been hearing some awesome things about 5150: http://www.angelfire.com/az3/twohourwargames/

Haven't actually played it myself yet though...

yeah i think the thing that makes me sad the most is that all my other fellow mongoose players have left in disgust. The SST forum has hardly had anything new in months and I wonder if all my SST stuff is going to look crappy next to the small scale stuff.

What small scale stuff? There's NO reason to expect SST models would receive scale change...

well originally we were told that BF-Evo was going to be same as sst scale... It wasnt. And im sure the Evo forum has said that the Marauders are going to be samller.

So bohoo. BF:Evo went for scale that looks more right in it's context(realistic humans). That means NOTHING! for SST. They are two DIFFERENT games.

Note the key word: DIFFERENT.

They aren't same game and models from BF:evo aren't supposed to be used on SST:evo. You try to use army from BF:evo in SST:evo and you'll get mightily unbalanced game to boot.

You are just spreading panic without cause.

Oh and couldn't find your mention of marauder size even with search function...So guess you are just don't remember it correctly.

ahem there are some nice picks with the giant LAMI and a hummer. On the note of unbalanced games. Same rule set, so i imagine the points cost would be universal.

Gee LAMI is BF:Evo unit since...When?

Last time I could swear it was BF:evo unit...

And why should point costs be same? Those depends on sooooo many things like what they are to expect. Marauder platoon will make short work of any BF:evo army without problems. Let's see. BF:evo can't hurt marauders with their main guns. Sorted. Tanks will be insta killed in one shots by javelins from marauder platoon while marauders survive multiple hits. So unless they overcharge marauders so that they are worthless in SST:Evo they will make short work of BF:evo armies. Exosuits are even funnier.

They are two different games with 2 different unit stats and point values that have nothing to do with each other. There is no system that says target X kill Y is worth Z points etc. Those systems don't work. Only way is to compare against what they will be playing against and determine relative worth from there. SST units won't be fighting BF units and vice versa so they will be 2 different point systems.

For example: SST:evo points will likely be more comparable to current edition rules(hey rules are almost similar...). This means chickenhawk will be circa 200 pts yet will be able to insta kill two 400 pts+ BF:evo tank per turn with it's infinite javelin launcher(and no reason to believe marauders will lose their ability to shoot freely either...Feel of units will very likely be held as closely as possible and infinite weapons were big part of marauders). Meanwhile it will take ATLEAST 2 turns if not more to take out single chickenhawk.

Nevermind chickenhawks ability against those poor BF:evo infantry...

Can you seriously say those would be even close to balanced? No. And nor is there any REASON for them to be as they are two different games.

you miss my point on scale they were all going to be the same BF:Evo and SST

I can tell by that blank look... but hey sorry i had an independant thought. Gee punnish me and flame me for talking out of turn. Flay me alive for speaking ill against obviosly your game. Gee mate sorry to upset your applecart. Forget it...

So obviously they changed the plans. Because if they had kept the plan the BF:evo models would be bigger.

Do you seriously concider Mongoose folks idiots? Because it would be most stupid thing for them to do to alienate their old customers. With BF:evo they can make realistic scale because it's new game so no worries about pissing off customers who had old versions by bucketload.

Do same with SST:evo and you would lose heaps of money. Do you think mongoose is intent on losing money?

No evidence WHATSOEVER speaks in favour of sst models getting smaller. You are just spreading false panic.

They are two different games and so you can't base conclusion on scales from that. Since models aren't supposed to be used together there's no NEED for them to be same scale...
