SST:Evo & Army Books?

Rats! I was afraid of that.

Are they gonna be re-vamped and re-released or is this part of the new core SST:Evo book? I thought is was the latter, but I'm not too sure.

Well, from my understanding, you'll have to rely solely on the cards for your stats. There are some neat things in the rulebook, but I would covet your Army books like they were gold.

Last time I checked army books weren't only rules so the correct answer is b.

Heck Klendathu campaign has rules that are still going to be usefull. That campaign thingie should be pretty much good to go without major alternations.

and that brings an intresting issue-the army books will be well, useless with the new ruleset, right? so, with the release of SSTE, would Mongoose put the now-redundant army books in pDF for free download?
they expected them to sell..well,not sell anyway after the anouncement

When did you look Tneva?

Hah hah.

You know this thing called FLUFF exists?

Or have you entirely forgotten about it?

Wargames isn't only about rules...It's not "MUST WIN MUST WIN MUST WIN!!!" type of hobby...Sorry to dissapoint you.

But Matt has told us that all the army lists for the new edition will be available as a free PDF if you just want to play the 2nd edt.

Actually thinking about it, didnt one of the mongoose peeps say that V1 stats would be made available for some of the new releases way back at the start of all this (like the Forth) or am I just tripping? they could be very useful in that case.

Not tripping this time max. I think they said every unit would get V1 treatment. If it were in signs and portents, not only would it rock, but it would give them a regular series of magazine articles.

That would be a trip.

And Tneva, the fluff's going to be reprinted in the SST:Ev rulebook. So, the books will be pretty much useless for SST:Ev. I apologize for your misunderstanding, and I do wish you'd remember a few things.

And Mage, the play test team was given the initial write up for SST v1 rulebooks for both the Forth and the Coven. Neither will see the light of day at this time, but, well, yeah.

Hmmm maybe we're both tripping Mage :?

Are Coven still upcoming then Hiro? I thought they'd just become a skinny unit in the end (Since all we ever heard of them was that they had some kinda psychic lightning)... They were meant to be a female force weren't they? hope they find a sculpter who can do human faces if they are :D

I can somewhat confirm the Coven, Max. We're currently running through the waves again, so that's the best I can tell you at the moment.

And yes, they're a Matriarchal society where men are cattle.

Oh no, a matriarchial society where men are love slaves.
In the immortal words of Captain Zap Brannigan:
'I had snoo snoo'.

I take it you are still not allowed to talk about the V1 coven hiro? It was worth a shot.

Hiro:

Oh poo. At least some of the ground work is done. I know you cannot say anything on the subject, but how big, selection of units wise, was the main list. I take it they had some form of assets unique to themselves, ala air command and emplacement?

Max:
Hmmm maybe we're both tripping Mage

Yes, kind of.

Snoo snoo is the least of your problems when it comes to Coven.

In effect, when you see this, you'll see MGP has an pretty good view of the human female. ;)

Also, they never got that far. We got to some "ground" vehicles, but nothing in the assets before they switched us to SST:Ev.

But I assume the majoirty of work you did was reusable, i.e, they liked the untis design and rules
