Spinward Marches Errata

Banded Mongoose
On the Darrian sub-sector illustration, page 93, Jacent (0604) and Nosea (0704) are each shown with gas giant symbols but they don't have any gas giants present.

Same details in the Darrian book.

As does the Traveller Map Pack for the Spinward Marches.

Tried to check the Traveller Map, but "Service no available", bit of a surprise, wiki-traveller states that both Jacent and Nosea lack gas giants.

Looks like the Mongoose survey has found (at least) two hitherto unknown gas giants. :)

Checked the old GDW Spinward Marches map, no gas giants shown for either.

Supplement 3: The Spinward Marches doesn't show any either for both the map and the details.

Maybe they decided that it was needed to prevent ships becoming stranded?

Or maybe there's an intermediate source they used?

Just a couple of thoughts here... (and I'm up to my neck in paper already, so I didn't check the UWPs for the two systems.)

Its a mistake on the illustration - the sub-sector listing correctly lists those two as not having gas giants. And the old CT Spinward Marches doesn't show them.

Traveller map back on line, no GG shown in those two systems.

When does 'the internet' constitute 'research'? Man.. crack open Supplement 3 for the definitive answer! :) :)

:lol: Look at my first post, Supplement 3 already checked, the internet was the last resource, not the first.

As I always say, the internet is more of a dumping ground of facts and fallacies than a proper source of info

Yeah I tend to not believe a thing on the internet till I've read the same thing at least three or four times from various strong sources. And even then its suspect. I tend to mostly believe good books but everything else is suspect, and even many history books are subject to the authors opinion or belief of what the truth is. And even things I would say are a matter of fact are still doubted by many people such as global warming and even the moon landings. Its a strange world when you think you cannot believe anything you read. This is one of the only things I remember about history classes at high school - the value of primary sources and the need to suspect anything else.

You just have to look at some of the songs you get off Shareaza and the like - people have just completely made up the singers in a lot of them just because it sounds like it could be them. For example loads of people have the song 'Right Here Waiting' down as a Bryan Adams song and yet it was sung by Richard Marx. And there are loads of others.

The internet its creating a false history for loads of young people. But its not just the internet its also the papers and films, especially American films, in which they rewrite history to suit the American market. You just cant believe a thing these days.

And the biggest liars of all are who? Yes you guess it - the banks and the politicians. Don't believe a thing you are told by either of them. Have a look here if you don't believe me, its a great site to encourage you to actually question what is really going on in the world:

http://www.getoutofdebtfree.org/

You will start to question what is actually going on behind the scenes in the financial and political worlds and you will never be the same after that I guarantee it!!

Oh dear, first DFW with UFO conspiracies, now another poster on the 'evil' of banks, courts, money etc :roll:
This is a roleplay forum, so please take that rubbish elsewhere, it has nothing to do with traveller.

Hehe...

Sensor Operator: Guys, I'm telling ya - done five sweeps - there's no gas giant here.

Astrogator: Look, right here, the chart specifically shows a gas giant... your readings must be wrong.

Sensor Operator: My readings are not wrong. I've even runs two level 3 diagnostics - its not there!

Computer Specialist: Yep, I confirmed that chart with numerous sources on the IWW, even the Imperium Wiki explicitly shows a gas gaint. Your equipment must be messed up.

:twisted:

Scout: I surveyed this system myself and I'm telling you I saw this glowing gas giant coming right at me with its mouth open, and it had nothing to do with the Scout Brew.

Bored Imperial: man, I cant bothered to go through all this scout data, someone must have been there and seen stuff before they did - I'll just check Scout wiki and it'll be fine :mrgreen:

weeks later;

Scout; no jump fuel left, all these planets are barren with no ice or water, now wheres the gas giant I can skim from to get out of here...

weeks later;

Scout; seriously, wheres this **** Gas giant?!

Then you were badly taught or just not paying enough attention, :lol: primary sources should also be suspected, just because someone was there doesn't mean they knew what was happening, or are telling the truth!
