2. The Chinese clan structure, such as it stereotypically is depicted, is a support structure in lieu of a lack of a governmental one, emotionally, defensively, and financially.
3. As I understand it, the sub Saharan one is somewhat more touchy feely.
4. The Chinese Communist Party, outside of their cadres, have done a lot to break that up, plus what are supposedly Chinese traditional cultural values.
5. So that form of extortion is harder to leverage, nowadays, and espionage wise, more of a way to contact the Thousand Talent via a third party, and ensure a secure communications and payment channel.
6. It's been minimalized to the nuclear family, and due to rather repressive political and financial pressures, even that is somewhat endangered.
7. What seems the main difference between the Russians and the Chinese, is that when the Chinese have had enough, they revolt.
8. And there's always, at least, a really big one every century, which has a good chance to overthrow the current dynasty, if not substantially weaken it.
9. And the Chinese have a very strong sense of injustice, since it seems that the majority tend to suffer under it, especially if there's no financial trade off to compensate for it.
