Banded Mongoose
Referee’s Aid 8: Traders & Raiders :?:

It just popped up in my email as new, was kinda curious... :?:  :?:

Did you see a Pirates book already for Referee Aids?

Book 11: Is an advanced career book. A totally different series for Mongoose Traveller.

the description is:

Referee’s Aid 8: Traders & Raiders explores the options open to starship captains willing to operate on both sides of the law. Smuggling, blockade running, and outright piracy offer additional revenue streams to the cash-strapped merchant, but careers are short for all but the most cunning. Smart operators vary their methods, swapping from piracy to planetary raiding or hijacking when necessary, engaging in gunrunning and smuggling where there is a profit to be made… and some will even take the occasional legitimate cargo.

There are many ways to make money with a starship, even without counting profitable activities undertaken somewhere that requires a ship to get to, but which do not involve the actual ship. Some of these activities are perfectly legal and are generally considered beneficial to interstellar society. Others… not so much.

the red high lighted says "pirate to me" or a Han Solo type at lease a part time pirate.

just curious since the "pirate book" has been in a holding pattern if this was made as a instead or just a preview?

They're from totally different series of books for Traveller. The Referee's Aid series of books are just cranking out sooner because of their low page-count, and no hardcopies to wait for printing.

Mongoose has pirates described in lots of their books. Scoundrel is another one of those books.

I am assuming that this book includes and expands on the piracy stuff that is already in the Pirates of Drinax adventure. That includes a bunch of page (about 10 I think) on piracy with encounter tables, loot tables and descriptions, pirate morale, recruiting pirates, etc.

So it should be a nice addition to anyone running that campaign (such as myself).

:P

Don't forget the Pirate careers and Piracy rules in Scoundrel. With this new book, it seems they're covering the pirate from every direction.
