Sleeping In light Tournament Questions

Well the Centauri shouldn't be alligned one way or the other if the ISA arne't automatically on the side of good?

It's tipped in the campaign handbook that players might want to take a scout - Matt how vital is this please?

You don't seriously expect a straight answer to that one do you? Not without asking it while hanging upside down in front of a mirror whilst receiving a vision

The taking or not of a Scout will be a judgement call on the part of the player I presume. I doubt Matt would make a scenario which is impossible to win without a Scout without explicitly telling us so, he may have Gruberesque tendencies, but he's not that bad

Plus, if you read the pack it simply states you might have to scout out an enemy base, which could be a similar scenario to recon run, which you don't need a ship with the Scout trait to perform at all. You may be reading too much into it...

well see what happens - one hopes not as the Vorlons can't have one.................

Mind you, there was that BF:Evo tourney where there was a scenario that was unwinnable for an EFTF force defending, but Matt cancelled that once it was pointed out to him, several times by several people.

I honestly think Chandler has read too much into the one mention of 'scout' (Note lower case s and it's use as a verb) in the tourney pack) though I'll look pretty dumb if he hasn't.

(Taking 2 WS scouts anyway even before this came up)

I wish I knew which races and players would fall into what camp so those camps could start talking fleet setup and general strategy for various "nightmare" fleets they might be facing. As for me, the Neroon is nicely backed up by 4 Torothas.

wow thats risky!!!! I figure there will be quite a few low PL games and if you come against say 4 Shadow Scouts or similar...............

hope it goes well :D

(well actually - go Chaos)

It's very risky, but my goodness, when I can unleash that ship, good to go.

It's not actually my fleet though I did consider it for the longest time. Basically came down to what do I do in battles that DOESN'T give me 4 pts at battle priority, I'll be boned. Even in rather large battles such as 2 or 3 at battle priority, not something I'd want to gamble on and most assuredly something that'll earn me a kicking by my teammates.

Deep Space tournament (rules also included in P&P?), the final scenario was impossible to win if you had no troops. Special rules were made to allow Shadow and Vorlon ships to be boarded, but there was no way they could win because they couldn't do any boarding themselves.

Even for races that have scouts, buying down to a patrol level scout is tricky given the fleet composition and small numbers permitted.

I agree, it's tricky, I even found myself having a problem with not passing the 8 ships limit. I think I'm happy though, have to check out P&P first to see if any new ships come out or not, especially if my name sake is in there, have to have her

I was just worrying that if we didn't need a scout it might be a waste of a raid point - one which could be used to buy an Ashinta! or another ship actually capable of dealing out the damage.

Scouts are always useful, even if not required for the scenario. Especially Leshaths

Might be as (if not more ) useful for the ISA if they are fighting for Chaos

Using a Leshath (and prob a Ashinta) against the Minbari - Priceless :)

For ISA taking a WS SCout is easy, lose a fighter and there's a small speed difference.

I tend to take 2 if I have enough Raid points. Sometimes you want to be sure those rerolls will stick!

yeah, I believe in having a scout as well during the weekend as it isn't a huge investment for my Minbari to do so.

Important Question

Is P+P going to be out (and distributed) prior to the weekend so people know what to expect / additional ships etc they can field / face? What new rules are likely to bein effect

Especially potentially game changing ones like having 6 ship Centauri squadrons, if the Drazi Attack run is broken or toothless. How the extraction beams are finalised - esp if you get a ISA vs Vree fight :)

The range of White Star beams - in particular the Gunship and its new variant (one hopes they are both 18")
