Slaine, Dead?!

Well there are a number of them, but I guess the point is that no matter what system I would like it will piss some people off and won't be a good fit for them, but if Slaine RQ isn't selling that in turn leads to the problem that you just leave the licence as it is and it laguishes in its death throes for a couple of years and is forgotten, and I don't think any of us want that.

What I think would be cool is a Traveller fantasy toolkit, that gives you all you need to create a generic fantasy world, but that then uses the Slaine licence as a default/example setting. As for the long term future of the Licence, I really don't know, and wouldn't second guess Mongoose, they have the sales figures and they know how to steer their ship.

I can't speak for the rest of you guys, but I will not be buying a Traveller Slaine. I already have D20 and MRQ versions. My only experience of the traveller system was back in the early-mid eighties and I thought that it was dull. (Hard Sci_Fi bores the complete sh*t out of me.)
If the 'goose go along this line, I fear that they may alienate what remains of the Slaine community.
Having said that, I might purchase campaign or scenario packs and convert them to MRQ Slaine. It is,IMHO, the best system for the job.

Agree.

Man, whatever problems there are with Slaine, its nothing to do with the system. Another system version would just p#ss off everyone whos got the D20 or RQ version. And who says its going to shift more copies just because a Traveller engine has been grafted on?

It amazes me that it seems Mongoose thought Slaine would be anything other than a fringe interest. Well, tough Mongoose, you got the licence, youve given us TWO versions of it to date, so SUPPORT it already!

i understand exactly what you mean as that is how I feel about BRP, I've just finished playing a game a few weeks ago, and while the scenario was ok, I spent most of the time ticking off the weeks until we played something else, like I said Mongoose will never please everyone. :)

As it's understood that The Traveller rules were written for a Scifi game and I think that would be difficult to adapt to the World of Slaine.

Of course , if you want Traveller/Slaine bad enough. That is what, going to happen.

In all my geekiness, I still reckon the Palladium rules would be a excellent system to cater for all aspects of the 2000AD universe that has been found interesting enough to adapt to a detailed, rich immercive role playing game. Like Judge Dredd, Slaine and now Strontium Dog and perhaps others like Nemesis and Rogue Trooper.

I won't argue for this to be done in any official capacity. As I found alot people disagree.

Too many pages filled with tables, too many dice rolls, but I like that.

For me, it's just personal choice.

I might write my own rule set.

Unofficial of course.

See if works out better.
