Skyhook, Slingshot, or Viking?

War-hobbyist. Thats a new one on me.You could make a mint out of that. release magazines and minitures for the war-gamer (all pre-painted and twice as expensive and takes twice as long to produce)and then the war-hobbyists gets the same but just in kit form quicker and cheaper. we also get the best stuff cause we have the skill to convert models, re-paint the rubish pre-paint jobs and build scenery.

I think both have a place. I really enjoy painting vehicles, terrain, hero models, commanders, weapons team- interesting stuff i'll only do a few times per army. Rank and file bores the crap out of me!! That's where i want prepaints. That said i'm more a gamer then a modeler.

Starship Troopers is Skirmish, not Rank&File. This doesn't have to do anything with numbers of models, it has to do with formations (or the lack of them).

I don't have any problem with painting a lot of models. I like posing them and giving them individual color shemes (I don't think you will find an army like mine anywhere).
With prepainted most of that will be gone. I won't buy any prepaints (except LAMI - maybe).

You invest the time, you get prettier stuff. I have absolutely no problem with that. But I think you'll find that most people like their magazines to be pre-painted; books full of blank pages are nice, but rarely pull in the same readership :).
