Sindal Map Legend

Well Msprange already said it would be going into the map. ("Good point, everyone - fuel dump will go in.")

And it makes sense for a fuel dump because otherwise the Sector is cut in half because it is out of range of J2 capable ships, as RajunCajun3025 pointed out.

So it's a bit of both worlds. Determining where the fuel dump from the module is actually located, and then putting that onto the map.

The ‘green’ outline is redundant. By default if it’s not Amber or Red it’s green. This should be removed. I’m not quite sure how much I like the new format. I do like that desert and water worlds are now color coded (needs to be defined as such on the map too). The star port code needs to lose the two dashes on either side of the letter because it serves no useful purpose and is distracting.

The method used by TravellerMap is really easy to glance at the map and derive all the necessary information for a system. I’m not opposed to change, but I don’t see the new format providing a better environment with the change. And putting the system name in the middle means you have to adjust the font smaller when you have longer names. Not a good thing, especially if you get into really long system names. I do like that the gas giant icon is ringed. That’s a nice touch and should stay.

Same font issue regardless of position, lower down it can still overlap the hex and has done so in some cases. Actually had to reposition a gas giant in one hex once due to a next door hex that had a long name.

Ringed gas giants have been used before such as on the poster maps which have remained consistent. They also use color coded water/non-water worlds and some of the subsector maps while not using color have still had a difference (hollow or not hollow) for the two types.

Not saying I agree with the new format or anything. There will be some changes to the subsector map.

Yar, that's true about the font issue. But it seems less likely (at least when I was zooming in and out on TravellerMap) to have issues than it will be with trying to contain the system name in the center of the hex.

I just think it makes more sense to leverage what's out there already (and is a damn fine tool). Unless the changes fundamentally increase the readability of the game there's no need to change things. Unless the change is being done for changes sake - which is never a good idea unless you are in marketing or have a website you want to annoy your users with by changing just to change.

The new subdued look to the map is better but there still is no need for the green border around the secure system.

I also like the improved legend descriptions for the planet icons.

I agree 100%. This one looks much better. I too would ditch the green outlines. hey still look too much like political boarder. I would return to the no color means a "Secure" system.

I would also suggest returning to a faint yellow or red fill rather or a circle within the hex rather than a boarder. This would allow boarders to be used to draw political lines even along Amber or Red zoned systems.

Amen!
