Not sure how this would play out in MRQ, we have played with just Humans so far, but in RQ3 they are fairly well matched.
The Elves have the advantage with ranged combat, hands down. If the Trolls could find them and close, they have the advantage in hand-to-hand combat, but it is not an auto-win. I had an Elf Wood Lord face off against a Troll Death Lord (Zorak Zoran) and he held him off for several rounds.
My Elf didn't miss his dodge, and the Death Lord didn't miss his parry. My Elf didn't do enough damage to get through his maul's AP. Finally the Troll got a hit in to my Elf's left arm, which was lucky since my Elf didn't really need that arm anyway. He had enough armor points through armor, enchantment and spells that the arm was not incapacitated, but the Seal Wounds on the maul made for problems for a couple of season. Shortly after that the rest of my party finished off the other Trolls and teamed up on the Death Lord. He went down pretty quickly after that.

Uz should invent Elf Hamburger Helper with Elf meat as the main ingredient. It would be Yummmie-especially mixed with Hobbit Meat. Some archers, and some spearmen? They possess a good dodge, but that does no good in mass formations. They possess good slealth, but this is also wothless in mass formations.
So they are best suited as snipers and gurilla warfare.
They also seem to have lost their mobility advantage from before. So these strengths that the elves have are good for defending their forests, and perhaps some hit-and-run raids, but they could never hope to take any land or conqure others.
How could these units (archers & spearmen) stand up conventionally against any other group?
The Uz have many units, and thus are a much more flexible fighting force.

Zorak Zoran- Gurilla, Berserkers, Shock Troops
Vaneekara- Hurlers, Slingers, Snipers
Zong- Gurilla, Scouts, Slingers
