Signal Processing Systems

Do the bonuses with Signal Processing Systems (High Guard p.56) stack with the base bonuses from the sensors or replace them (like Countermeasures do)? So would someone with Advanced sensors and Enhanced Signal Processing get +6 to Lock Sensors or just the +4?
For that matter, can these be used for the Lock Sensors action at all since I noticed that the wording on these says 'that improve the quality and likelihood of detection for sensor suites'; so does it apply to detection ONLY and not any combat related tasks?

They stack with sensors and can be used for all sensor tasks. Mandatory for warships...

At least by HG2017 the effect is:

HG'17, p41:
Enhanced signal processing grants DM+4 to all sensor-related checks.

With the huge modifiers you can get for stealth, I'd agree that it pretty necessary. But that doubled vulnerability to jamming sucks.
