Ship's Locker: Out of the Closet

Synthsaga SciFi: Fogville Car Show & Hoverboards

This time, Brandy Blackstone, representative from Underground Travel Magazine, presents 3 things you should see in FogVille, the urban region where the (polluted) fog never lifts, showing different parts of the city and highlighting the various tribes that inhabit it. Take a couple of minutes to see what this man has to say!

HoverBoards, the best Synthfood and Custom cars!

The post-funky rhythm will remind us of the crazy New York 80s, but in another parallel dimension, in another time.

Synthsaga scifi: Post-Atomic Riders Race inscription

It's spring of the 1950's parallel line, and in the east of the country, an unknown group has called a great custom Cyberbike race, with a not inconsiderable prize: 7 million credits.

Many of the postcyber bikers who gather in the old coffee shops have caught on, and are heading to NucleusVille for the limited in-person registration.

The cyberbikes are custom assemblies with various technologies. A kind of flying frankensteins that sometimes keep some wheels to support them during the movements. They started to become fashionable after the 40s, due to the discoveries in the field of gravitational fields.

Thanks for being there! Although sometimes we can't answer all the comments, we read all of you! Cheers

Can A Giant Potato Cannon Throw Things Into Space Cheaper Than Rockets? Longshot Think so!

LongShot space are a SF Bay Area company who have resurrected the hypersonic projectile launcher with an eye to scaling it up to the point it could launch payloads into space at a lower cost that traditional rockets. And while this lofty goal is a long way off, they do have a contract to build a launcher able to throw test payloads at mach 5 for the Department of Defense who want to test hypersonic payloads.

1. Continuous, sustained, acceleration would be a mass driver, or a rail gun.

2. Technological level seven.

Project Babylon was a space gun project commissioned by then Iraqi president Saddam Hussein. It involved building a series of "superguns". The design was based on research from the 1960s Project HARP led by the Canadian artillery expert Gerald Bull. There were most likely four different devices in the program.

The project began in 1988; it was halted in 1990 after Bull was assassinated, and parts of the superguns were seized in transit around Europe. The components that remained in Iraq were destroyed by the United Nations after the 1991 Persian Gulf War.

Anachronistic Technology: Ancient Tech Future Times

In the future we may have technologies sufficiently advanced that they are indistinguishable from magic, but could those civilizations also be indistinguishable from primitive ones?

Life As An Asteroid Miner

We often envision filling space with vast megastructures people might live on in the future, and mining asteroids to provide the materials for their construction, but what would life as an Asteroid Miner be like?

1. For those who find the prospect of the life of an asteroid miner worth digging into.

2. Though, I think a more assured source of income is selling goods and services to miners.

3. Covered wagon spacecraft - why not?

Some (most) of those are already in the CSC or exist as a feature of an item, like the Autochef. You could do a more in-depth look at what is a 'normal household item' at various Tech Levels as a future JTAS article.

All in one devices are likely not to be as optimal as a specialized one.

Also, might be overcomplicated at a critical moment, like when I flip the steak.

This little exercise was in aid of figuring a plausible, base line technological level you'd want to kickstart off your colonization attempt, since energy production is the foundation of maintaining, at least technically, a continuing civilization.

For the Traveller tech tree, it's going to be technological level six, with prefusion reactors.

You'd still need to crank out nuclear engineers to run them, one would assume maintaining a minimum industrial base of technological level six shouldn't be that hard.

Also, air conditioning.

And, you have transistors.

The important thing is the ability to run and operate the mini reactors, and build more of them, as well as fuelling them, air conditioning being vital to continued civilization.

And, with transistors, graphic cards and smartphones.

Technological level four is possible, but it's going to cost you a fortune, but you'd have electricity and the telephone.

I'd have said dieselpunk, but it's not, and a little early for atomicpunk.

Twenties pulp science fiction.
