I would expect some sort of comm linkage to integrate with features in the more advanced helmets. Either that or some sort of hardline connection thru the user’s gloves, which sounds a lot trickier to implement reliably.
 
A bullet maximum range, when fired out of a handgun, depends on the type of gun. A bullet shot out of a gun will eventually slow down due to the drag factor. The drag factor is due to the gradual accumulation of air resistance as the bullet loses momentum. The maximum range of a handgun is determined by the muzzle velocity, ballistic coefficient, and air temperature, amount of gunpowder, angle shot and form factor.

Typically a 9 mm bullet shot out of a medium sized handgun will travel 2200 meters before it will fall to the ground. A bullet almost never travels this far before it actually hits something. So don’t test this theory because chances are you will shoot someone or break something.

Gyrostabilizers weigh a kilogramme and cost half a kiloschmucker.

Ecks ray laser sight costs two hundred schmuckers.

Scope costs fifty schmuckers.

Gyrostabilizers are probably scaled down, since it's not described as a bulky weapon. and logic would indicate as a standard sidearm it wouldn't be; or, gyrostabilization removes the bulky trait. I tend to think it has more to do with the recoil compensation of a bullet with likely twice the energy as that of NATO standard five plus millimetres.
 
Advanced Combat Rifle - Technology Level Nine

As far as I can tell. all the components of the default Advanced Combat Rifle are available at technology level nine.

Electrothermal compound - nine.

Electronic battlefield sight - seven.

Red dot laser rangefinder - eight.

Gyroscopically stabilization - nine.
 
Advanced Sniper Rifle

Slightly downscaled at technological level nine, since electrothermal compound has twice the energy of the default propellant, and drops effective range from five hundred to four hundred fifty metres if you use the Advanced Combat Round, since damage potential is the same though armour piercing is reduced, with the default sniper rifle weighing in at five kilogrammes with a capacity of four rounds, and the Advanced Combat Rifle at three kilogrammes, with a capacity of forty.
 
Submachine Guns

Seems a dead end development, with at one end carbine and subcarbine variants of assault rifles using intermediate rounds, or intermediate intermediate rounds, or just skipping to pistol ammunition, for up close and personal combat ranges, and carbinized pistol adaptations at the other.

For the pistol adaptations, their problem has to be effective range, reliability, recoil and overheating, though that can partially be solved with increasing the length of the barrel and adding the stock, plus some form of handle in front that the other hand can grip.

Then I noticed that there is a fletchette submachine gun, using air propulsion at technological level nine, which got me speculating as how this is viable; whereas as an air rifle would be tolerated, one that acts as a combined automated assassination weapon and shotgun wouldn't be, assuming it actually is functional.
 
Law Level Six

Everything's banned except stunners and shotguns.

Stunners are reasonable, though not necessarily proportional, force.

With shotguns, I think the real issue that regime would have would be with concealability, capacity, rate of fire, and possibly destructiveness.

That means that there would be a minimum barrel length, and a minimum total length, perhaps disqualifying folding stocks.

Capacity is harder to control with semi automatics, lever action, and pump action, since you could extend tubes and possibly add an external magazine; you could be limited to two shells, plus one chambered, which I always thought gave a tri barrelled shotgun leeway.

I've seen people reload remarkably fast, through practice and gimmicks, so this may be less of a handicap than conceived.

You might need to take down a rhino equivalent, or whatever kaiju can tow a spaceship, but I suspect twenty millimetre calibre would probably be the limit.

Non residents and transients may still need to obtain permits and undergo background checks, though in an interstellar civilization, this may not be exactly viable, and subject to forgery, fraud or identity theft; this may be supplemented with a monetary bond, and possibly a personal bond from a local resident.
 
Taurus Judge: Not for Handgun Carry

Apparently the Taurus Judge is the most popular selling gun in the Taurus lineup, I didn’t know that when I started researching this article, but I believe it because I hear more students, coworkers and friends tell me how much they want a Judge for personal protection/prepping/zombie killing because it has the ability to shoot both centerfire ammunition as well as .410 shotshells.

I also did not expect the level of disagreement when I posted my video on my opinions on using the Taurus Judge for self defense.

I will admit that does give it some cool points, and I think it is a great concept, but I try to distinguish between true and perceived benefits and make any purchases based upon a cost benefit analysis rather than getting wrapped up with and enamored by features.

Zip 22: Shooting the Worst Gun Ever

Today, may the good lord help me, I am taking the Zip 22 out to the range for some shooting.

Note that while it actually worked remarkably well right up until it jammed solid, on the second range trip when we went back to get the high-speed footage, we literally could not get two rounds in a row. We did get a couple neat high-speed malfunctions though...

USFA Zip 22: How a Garbage Gun Destroyed A Good Company

USFA used to be the producers of probably the best Single Action Army reproductions on the market - but then the company owner decided to pursue a crazy whim and embarked on the Zip 22 project. This was to be a very modular and very inexpensive little pistol with lots of cool possibilities. Problem was, the thing was a malfunctioning piece of junk that handled like a lumpy 2x4.

To make it cheap and easy to make, Donnely (owner of USFA, and apparently the actual designer of the Zip) eschewed the use of either an extractor or ejector. Furthermore, the bolt is a roughly 1" (25mm) cube of polymer and is a consumable part like the recoil springs. The combination of a short bolt travel, very light mass of reciprocating parts, and lack of traditional parts to ensure extraction and ejection resulted (not surprisingly) in a notoriously unreliable firearm.

While each individual Zip is very cheap, this is only possible through the use of polymer molds, which are very expensive to create. Apparently USFA sold off all its traditional machine tools (ie, the Single Action Army production capacity) to finance the various molds for the Zip 22 project. Donnely thought that the massive profits form the Zip would allow him to purchase new tools and restart SAA production after a two-year hiatus. However, the massive problems with the Zip destroyed the company's finances. It was only in production for just about a year, and by January of 2017 the company was formally dissolved, with no assets remaining.

It’s not the first time a Lilium Jet — the company’s all-electric vertical take-off and landing (VTOL) device — has taken to the sky, but it is the first time the new five-seater has taken off and landed, following extensive ground testing. Lilium published a video of a two-seater version’s inaugural flight just over two year’s ago.

The new five-seater is a full-scale, full-weight prototype that is powered by 36 all-electric jet engines to allow it to take-off and land vertically, while achieving “remarkably efficient horizontal or cruise flight,” says Lilium.

The significance of getting to five seats shouldn’t be underestimated, either, as Lilium isn’t in the aircraft design and manufacturing business, but sees itself as a fully vertical mobility-as-a-service company, akin to an Uber of the skies, if you will. The technology, as groundbreaking as it needs to be, is an engineering means to an end: intercity travel that is less expensive, quicker and kinder on the environment. That’s the hugely ambitious aim, anyway.

With a top speed of 300 km/h and a range of 300 km, Lilium claims its jet is capable of completing much longer journeys than the majority of its competitors. This is, in part, thanks to the fixed wing design of the aircraft. This will see it rely on the lift generated by the fixed wing to remain in the air, meaning it will require less than 10% of its maximum 2,000 horsepower during cruise flight.
