Ship Plan Legends

Is it just me, or are the ship plan legends illegible? I can't even see what scale the diagrams are supposed to be. :(

Is it possible that someone could release a decent-sized one along with information on just how big those squares actually are? I can make out most of it, but the actual scale is just a blur... and yes, I've tried magnifying it under a bright light :(

I'd hate to think what it's like for anyone with eyesight issues - my eyes are half-decent (not as sharp as they were 20 years ago, but hey). :)

Edit: just noticed that there's a couple that are legible, but they're the minority... 1.5m to the square, looks like?

Yep, the standard of traveller ship layouts is 1.5m to the square, where 2 squares equal 1 ton of volume.

LBB 2 page 21 under Deck Plans:

"Deck Plans: If the referee or the designer should feel that detailed deck plans for a ship are required, then they may be drawn up using square grid graph paper. The preferred scale for the interior should be 1.5 meters per square, with the space between decks put at about 3.0 meters. One ton of ship displacement equals approximately 14 cubic meters. Therefore one ton equals about two squares of deck space."

Might not have been in the first edition, that's from the second, c1981.

Yup, that's normal they get squished down to fit on the page. As actually drawn they look better then they turn out in the books.

Most ships are 1.5m to the square, though the fighters are half this due to the low profile.

Thanks for the help!

I'm planning to do a 3D deckplan of a Beowulf Free Trader and spent last night drawing one out with 1 square = 1/2" on paper to see how it looked. That information will help a lot, thanks.

I might go 1 square to 15mm and see how that looks too... hmm...
