Our future in space will require immense industry and infrastructure as we colonize out solar system and beyond. But how will those industries affect that colonization, and what form might an interplanetary civilization take from that influence?

Problem with telecommuting would be lag, so either the equipment is mostly or entirely autonomous, or you're going to have managers and technicians stationed close by; artificial gravity resolves a lot of health and hardship issues (and requisite premiums and sign on bonuses).

Spacecraft: Accommodations and The Future Of Airline Passenger Cabins

We’ve already highlighted some pretty cool innovations in the world of future cabin design, such as the Zero G flight attendant seat and the collapsible economy beds. But this year’s Crystal Cabin awards bring us far more than just those products. Let’s take a look at some of the biggest trends and future design themes that are emerging for the aircraft cabin of tomorrow.

Inspiration: Space Engineers - Super Heavy Drone Carrier

A superheavy drone carrier with, although limited connection points, a massive amount of deck space for even more drones. Named after the current largest and only russian aircraft carrier Admiral Kuznetsov (адмирал кузнецов), this behemoth can be operated solely from the bridge, not having to go outside, thanks to its two Bobr (бобр, Beaver) repair rovers taking care of deck and drone repairs.

Inspiration: Death Star Construction Timelapse

This video is a personal project (fan film) created by myself and my FX-guru brother Isaac Botkin. He planned and crafted all the visuals in Lightwave 3D, and I composed the original score in Cubase Pro. The goal was to come up with an original melody, but keep it very much within the style and flavor of John William's iconic Star Wars scores.

Equator first, then the core.

Minecraft: How to make a working Death Star

I'm taking a look at how to build a death star that can fire a laser to destroy planets! There are no mods used- only command block magic and a lot of free time!

My very first YouTube video was a timelapse, but I haven't done anything similar for the next 7 years. So I thought, why not go back to the roots, and make another timelapse- this time to create a Death Star! A simple Death Star might be a bit boring though, so I decided to not only make the thing massive but also give it an actual laser cannon that works using command blocks!

I googled and found some useful reference material for how the internals of a Death Star might look like, and then I started my journey of putting together the huge planet-destroying space station!

I started with the core of the planet and continued with the main infrastructure, including the main power generator, pumps, central computing unit, and power cells. After that, I used command blocks to generate the shell of the Death Star. I added the laser disk and other internal structures, before actually implementing the laser beam itself. I then looked at the original Star Wars films to recreate the laser firing animation. And let me tell you, it turned out a lot better looking than I anticipated at first!

Inspiration: What Will Space Combat Be Like?

Stepping a bit out of my comfort zone for this one. Topic discussion video on science fiction and space combat. I talk about things that are often forgotten like orbital trajectories, space debris, overheating, and scale. Games used are Halo 3, Halo: Reach, Kerbal Space Program, and Stellaris.

Inspiration: Life on a Low-Gravity Planet

Science fiction loves to take us to desolate alien worlds with low-gravity, and envision creatures evolved to those or humans adapted to those conditions or zero-gravity in space, and many planets we might one day colonize like Mars do have low gravity... but our assumptions about life on such places correct or what if we're making incorrect assumptions?

This is what we desperately need, spaceships with balls.

Or at least, docking clamps equipped to handle them.

The balls could be docked spacecraft, cargo or drop tanks.

Spaceship designers must show no inhibitions in exhibiting them publicly, to demonstrate their grip on this discipline.

I would like to point out several things:
1. Luke Talley is awesome.
2. Every single frame of this video requires more memory storage than this memory module is capable of handling. Think about that.
3. On the second channel we talk about things like how they took into account gyroscopic precession with this bad boy. They also crashed this into the moon and used the signal as a way to figure out what the inside of the moon is like. It's a good video, you should consider watching it. 4. This is not the Apollo computer. This is the Saturn V computer. They're different. This steered the rocket.

Inspiration: Astartes - Part Five

Part Five of Astartes, a Warhammer 40,000 fan film project.
This marks the end of this chapter of the Astartes project. What comes next? Well I'd love to continue! I have many 40k stories I'd like to tell and I already know where I want to take things next if the support is there. Also with the experience gained, raise the quality, enlist key help and bring episodes to you quicker!

If anyone would like to support me in this project please consider the links below. I work as a contract 3d artist so any donation means less time working for others and more time on Astartes!

Spaceships: Hulls and Why don't we fill an Airship with a Vacuum?

In the early 1900s massive airships ruled the sky, offering luxury commercial travel significantly faster than the steamships that ruled the waves. But a series of disasters, including the demise of Britain’s R101 and culminating in the infamous Hindenburg disaster shattered public confidence in airships. Hydrogen proved too volatile for the public’s safety, and was replaced with helium. But the lack of lift that helium provides ended the commercial airship travel, but what if instead of helium, hydrogen was replaced with something lighter – a vacuum.
